Does this sound dumb to anyone else? Unless Davis is traded for a good haul or Braun is moved to first, why not just live with Santana's poor defense? It's not like it'll kill the nonexistent playoff chances, and Phillips is the answer sometime in 2017 if not 2016. If Santana's that bad anyway, bring up Reed after awhile next year.

I don't think they are sold that Santana is ready to be a full time player offensively. Otherwise I think they'd live with him. IF they can get a reasonable short term option it would help the pitching staff, and if that guy hits, well he could be used as a trade chip later on.

This is all being discussed over in the transaction forum. Nothing wrong with trying to have at least one person on the team who can at least sort of play CF close to average
