Max Schrock, 2B- Rule 5 Eligible

Posted

I don't expect the Brewers to pick a player in tomorrow's Rule 5 draft but if they do, I think Cardinals 2B prospect Max Schrock would actually be a good fit.

He's 24, MLB ready and he hits left handed. He had a down year in Minors at AAA last year but prior to that consistently made contact and batted over .300 at every level.

Could he simply be a bridge until Huira is ready to be called up?

Probably not happening, but Schrock is one of my favorite players available and would be surprised if some team doesn't give him a shot.

Schrock is really interesting. Last year, his BAIP was .260. His career is .319, so there might be some serious bad luck in play.

Dude makes contact and hits. No clue about his glove. And he's not going to hit for power. But he's got some interesting skills.

Already have a younger, better version in Dubon. That said, I'm open to looking at any options for a LH bat. Yelich and Shaw, that's it. So it would help if the UT was LH, not sure if that's a good enough reason to select Schrock.
