According to the espn ticker, #1 pick SS Matt Bush? has agreed to terms with the San Diego Padres.

 

Let's hope that is a great sign of things to come with so many hs pitcthers to develop.

He got a $3.15 mil signing bonus, not bad for a high schooler. Is that close to slot value or did the Padres overpay?

That contract was agreed to before he signed, and I believe it is well under slot value.

Thanks kat, but I also being optimistic, especially I didn't see to much on our kid until a couple of weeks before the draft. Maybe we have a similar situation here.

I heard that Rogers wants to sign as quickly as possible, as soon as he is done with school, could be as early as this weekend. He hasn't pitched that many innings yet this year, so he is looking to go right into the minors and get to work.

I heard (I forget where, maybe JS) that Rogers pitched a 2 hit, 16 k game to win the East Maine championship and get his team into the state title game. So, he only has one more game before he can sign.
