STATS question

[Southwest Brewer]

A guy has 2 AB's and 1 hit, with 3 walks. The AB w/o the hit, he reached on an error. That's a total of 5 plate appearances.. and he scored all 5 times. BTW, it's only the 5th inning of this college game.

 

What stat would that make huge? Is it Slugging pct? or OPS? or something else?

 

What would the numbers be on that?

1-2, with 5 runs, as far as AB's.

 

4-5 in PA's.

The stat that would be outstanding is the player's perfect 1.000 on base percentage. Plate appearances which result in the player reaching via an error aren't included in OBP calculations.

 

If the hit was a single, slugging percentage would be .500.

The 5 runs scored would be the most impressive part, IMO.

 

OBP = (H+BB+HBP)/(AB+BB+HBP+SF)

 

ROE isn't an AB? I always thought it hurt the batting average.

It was a wild game. Joey Vincent scored everytime he was at the plate and got taken out in the 5th inning.

 

Ended up 37-11 NMSU over N. Iowa.

 

I knew there was some stat that Tony Gwynn (i think it was Tony) had over 1.000 b/c he had so many bases and the stat inlcuded walks. So I figured if it was possible to be 2.000, Vincent almost had to do it today w/ 20 total bases in 5 trips to the plate.

You're right. I don't know what I was thinking; I've known that since I was a kid. ROE affects OBP, too. This guy's OBP would be .800, which is still outstanding.

Assuming the hit was a single, his SLG is 1 TB/2 ABs =.500. OPS is 1.300.
