Use of emojis, acronyms, and memes. Please read.

Hi everyone,

I hope your holidays are going well. Going into the new year, we are implementing a stricter policy on use of emojis,"text message" acronyms, memes/gifs, and general snark. Many people use these as their opener when responding to other people they don't agree with and this oftentimes leads the discussion astray.

 

When responding to other posters, avoid starting your post with the following: text message acronyms like LOL, eye-rolling or LOL emojis, snarky memes/gifs, or language like "Huh?" "Uh, what?" etc. Skip the snark and make your point.

 

We have been deleting these on occasion and almost always just getting rid of that opening snipe is enough to make your post perfectly fine. Going forward Mods will no longer edit posts, we will just delete them. If you are a repeat offender we will temp ban you. If you persist, we will ban you permanently. We don't want to ban emojis, memes, gifs etc. as they can add a lot to the board, but please use them to enhance the discussion rather than derail it.
