Rangers could trade Joey Gallo

I believe you misread his point. CWH is saying WE (Brewers fans) likely see more value in our "prospects" than other teams would, and pointing out the flaws is done to illustrate the point.

Yeah, I did misread that. Thanks for pointing it out.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

Personally, I never quite got why we didn't give Carter another year. He wasn't perfect, but he was fairly inexpensive and filled a need.

His projected arbitration salary was $8m IIRC. Despite the HR title, he only put up a 113 wRC+. Combine that with poor baserunning and poor defense at 1B, and he was a below-average player (1 fWAR, 0.9 rWAR). Replacing him with Aguilar and Thames, for less money, was an excellent move, I suspect many GMs would not have dared non-tender the HR champion. He put up a 71 wRC+ with the Yankees in 2017 and hasn't played in the majors since.

Yes, but we could've easily resigned him for much less as there was little demand for him. Obviously, no one knows how he would've turned out for the Brewers the second year, but I have to believe being in a situation where he was an everyday player is easier than the part-time he was with NYY.

Signing Thames ultimately was the right move. But at the time, it was very also very risky. Getting Aguilar was just dumb luck.

If Gallo only wants to play in OF, then it's a huge no. Team has large amounts of money spent on 3 OFs already. Prospect capitol and Payroll capitol needs to fill needs not luxuries.

I actually kind of like this idea. As sveumrules notes it would really only be about 25% of his time at 1B if things go well with Vogelbach. If things go south with Vogelbach then can reallocate the playing time. Gallo is pretty solid against both lefties and righties and can in theory also play all three OF positions. Still not sure how eager the Rangers really are with some comments they make praising him but worth pursuing IMHO.
