  1. I agree with Jopal that the Brewers won't commit a large amount of money and years for an aging veteran. However, there is an in between that we are not real sure about. As noted, we know they will pay or perhaps even overpay on one year deals, maybe they would stretch it to 1.5 years.Would they be willing to trade the prospects, maybe not, but not out of the question.
  2. I always like going to https://www.mlb.com/brewers/news/brewers-injuries-and-roster-moves as they continually update injury news. Per the last update he will be evaluated after the Pirates series so should hear something today or tomorrow with the next step.
  3. He is still pretty dominant against lefties so if used correctly can still be effective. However can't assign a role like 8th inning guy, needs to be more situational. If they are ever up a bunch or down a bunch that would be a good opportunity to give him more shots at right handed batters.
  4. Didn't get to see much of this one but feeling fortunate the Brewers were able to get Harrison for Durbin.
  5. Finally get some NL Central action. Even with Skenes pitching actually optimistic these games with Woodruff/Miz/Harrison going. Like their chances with all three pitching in any series.
  6. Both Black and Bauers have played outfield, not sure who would be considered the better defender. Would think they called Black up with the intention to start him against at least two of the three Pirate right handed starting pitchers.
  7. With the way the bullpen has been was kind of hoping Yoho would get a shot taking one of the spots.
  8. They had Lockridge at third and Turang at first, two guys that can run, the Tigers would have to make a play to get Turang and if they did they may have sacrificed a run and Turang would still be safe. You are correct, though far too often the result is looked at and not the thought process. I stated before I had zero issue with Contreras swinging at a strike to drive in some runs.
  9. Had a golden opportunity to beat them on a Skubal start and blew it, very frustrating.
  10. He got a pitch to hit, one of the few who can actually hit right now. Maybe should have ran Turang but down 1 with your 1 or 1A best hitter go ahead and swing at a strike.
  11. I like that you bring up Adames because in my mind Adames was with the organization longer but after this season Contreras will have been here even slightly longer since Adames wasn't traded here until May. Amazing the Brewers were able to get such quality players at premium positions. Both have qualified for the Brewers Wall of Honor when they retire as well. I love to follow prospects but getting high impact players unexpectedly like Adames, Contreras and even Yelich keeps things interesting. Hopefully a guy like Harrison can be added to the list eventually plus more to come.
  12. Not too many positive from this game but even with that late Carpenter home run I like Rodriguez in the Woodford role over Woodford. Rodriguez isn't going to start with the depth the Brewers have and offers more flexibility when the Brewers get in a bind and need to make room on the 26 man. Unfortunately Rodriguez is out of options after the season so they have to make a call on his future with the team very soon anyways.
  13. Who knows what a new bargaining agreement brings but would think a 5 WAR player like Turang wiill get $20 million in both arbitration years 3 and 4, maybe more. Will be conservative and say 3 years $45 million over final three arbitration years plus match the 6 years $141 of Hoerner's extension, brings it to 9 years $186 million.
  14. At the moment not too optimistic, have to weather the storm a bit before they get some of their guys back. It will get better but can't fall too far behind.
  15. Very true, a wash is pretty much a loss if that is how you operate the organization. You are not going to win much of anything getting 4 WAR total over a number of years from multiple players but can help win it all with 4 WAR from one player in one season.
  16. Woodford looked pretty bad in his couple innings, need an upgrade there.
  17. Notwithstanding Sal to 3B, he should not be lumped in with the likes of Ortiz, Rengifo and Hamilton, all who were horrible offensively this year and continue to be this year. Frelick has been bad thus far but had a 3 WAR season last year, far too early to make a call on him
  18. Hey, you forgot the walk. This game is pretty much Mitchell this year. 40% K rate, 20% walk rate, leading team in RBI, 850+ OPS. I am just enjoying it at this point. In a year there is a ton of injuries to the offense Garrett Mitchell of all people is somebody they can turn to carry a big chunk of the load. Well, well, well, how the turntables.
  19. It was noted Harrison is expected to make a start in the Detroit series so Crow probably won't be here long.
  20. A lot of talk the Brewers could have just selected in the rule 5 draft and in hindsight probably was for the best to just stash in the minors instead of accruing service time, using an option a year early and greater flexibility with th 40 man in 2025. Taylor would have been useful in 2024 but the Brewers also ended up getting Perkins most likely best year in the majors so a wash.
  21. Good series win against the Blue Jays in honor of Garner, hard fought. That 1992 team was great, just couldn't quite catch the Blue Jays that year.
  22. Liked the intensity out of Megill, seemed to be lacking out of this team. Let's get one more clean inning and send the Blue Jays back 7-11.
  23. Actually think Patrick in the bullpen would really help stabilize the bullpen. However, too many question marks right now in the starting rotation. Have to see if this is really a short term injury for Harrison, Sproat has a lot to prove and never know with Woodruff. Don't think the Brewers can count on Henderson and Gasser to come up and start every 5 days with their injury history as well.
  24. He is already past the point where he can get a year of service in 2026 unless he would be top 2 in ROY voting so it would be after the 2032 season. Of course a new agreement or lockout could change everything.
  25. Interesting matchup with a not very good LHP against a team not very good against LHP.
