We will begin to see some formal minor league roster announcements soon. The formal announcement will come directly from the Timber Rattlers, not the Brewers. All four minor league affiliates will likely send out their press releases within an hour or so of each other once the Brewers have given them the official go-ahead to do so.

Opening Night is Tuesday 5/4!

Feel free to link to any formal notices you see here.

Often we learn via farmhand tweets, who has been assigned where, prior to the formal affiliate announcements. We'll link to any of those posts in this thread as they come out.

As you might know, we use the "Your 2021" threads to post and link to feature stories, including audio and video, that are outside the scope of game activity covered in the Daily Link Report.

These threads have become among the most popular for viewing here, and we look forward to kicking them off formally.

Please do not speculate on any player releases. Brewers Player Development or MiLB.com will update us formally.

Getting the start

Victor Castaneda will be the starting pitcher for Wisconsin in Tuesday’s opener.

In a twist of fate, Castaneda was the starting pitcher for the Timber Rattlers on Labor Day in 2019 in Quad Cities, the last time the Rattlers played a game before the COVID-19 pandemic wiped out the 2020 season.

The 22-year-old right-hander, who is from Mexico, had a 4-2 record, six saves and a 4.50 ERA with the Timber Rattlers in 2019.

David Hamilton getting a mention in the latest Daily Prospect Notes at FanGraphs...

Thought the emphasized portion of the blurb was pretty encouraging on both a personal & organizational level...

"He’s asserting himself among the several internal candidates to replace Willy Adames a few years from now."

Business trip returns Rattlers' Reifert to Quad Cities

Steve Batterson, Quad City (Iowa) Times

***

Evan Reifert, as discussed in the feature article, was promoted from Carolina -- I was a bit surprised to see the walk totals here:

Carolina - 9 IP, 4 BB

Wisconsin - 9.2 IP, 17 BB

Reifert has managed to allow only five runs (three earned) with the Timber Rattlers, but hey, it's all a journey. Time to adjust, however.

Good article.
