Josh Lindblom is on the hill, looking to lead the Sounds to victory and keep his AAA ERA under 1.00 (he’s at 0.91 thru 29.2 innings this year):

Box: Nashville 3, Gwinnett (Braves) 1

Lindblom, Sounds Edge Gwinnett

Four Nashville Pitchers Combine for 13 Strikeouts in Road Victory

Another fine write-up with plenty of "tidbits"; as always everyone is encouraged to read each game summary.

Looks like Josh Lindblom having value next year is still a possibility, that final $3M may have some play. Jeff Hem with the note.

Nice to see both Arizona teams playing now but wonder when we’ll see guys like H. Perez and Quero come off the COVID list?

Edit: Nevermind...completely missed Perez in the box score.

Some Arizona Complex League games seem to be scheduled for seven innings, others for nine. Seems rather random league-wide. So there's that, and we'll note that.

By the way, 111 degrees at game time for both contests Friday.

It's a dry heat.

Box: ACL Mariners 3, ACL Brewers Gold 2, scheduled for seven innings

Walk-off loss in the season debut for this squad.

Former Phillies farmhand 23-year-old RHP Justin Miller has now made a single appearance for each Maryvale team, and has suffered the last-inning defeat in each. 4.50 WHIP after two games. Ouch.

Really nice stateside mound debut start for 20-year-old RHP Fernando Olguin, a Mexican native.

To give Miller credit, he did strand two runners for soon-to-be 20-year-old Dominican RHP Phili Silverio, who was making his pro debut. Miller and Silverio combined for four walks, four wild pitches, a HBP and a balk in two innings.

At the plate, 18-year-old Hedbert Perez was 1-for-4 with a double and two K's in his long-awaited pro debut. He was the DH.

SS Eduardo Garcia and 1B Jesus Chirinos reached base twice each in the shortened affair.

Box: ACL Dodgers 4, ACL Brewers Blue 1, scheduled for seven innings

Dylan File has been earning his pro-rated MLB big-league salary since May 2nd, good for him. On his first rehab outing here, three innings of one-run ball with no walks and four K's. Nice.

File was followed by 18-year-old Dominican RHP Samuel Dario (professional debut), LHP Karlos Morales, and 20-year-old Mexican native RHP Oscar Castaneda (stateside debut). That trio of relievers combined in four innings to allow three runs (but only one earned) on four hits and four walks while fanning eight.

At the plate, 2B Jheremy Vargas reached all three times up to continue a hot start. 18-year-old Venezuelan SS Jose Caballero was 0-for-2 in his pro debut and committed two errors. 19-year-old Dominican native Erys Bautista ($500,000 signing bonus in 2019) was used as a pinch-hitter in his stateside debut.

Didn't see it in the final counts in box score but the live MiLB scoreboard at one point showed his first 17 pitches were all strikes. Very encouraging.

He most likely didn't. It's like in ST where pitch counts aren't officially tracked. So the live scoreboard at the end said 22 pitches, all strikes. But it's because that's the minimum; 4 strikeouts = 12 strikes, 5 hits = 5 strikes, 5 other batters faced = 5 strikes, total 22. Next guy in the box score, Dario, had 21 pitches. 8 balls from 2 walks, 9 strikes from 3 strikeouts, 1 strike from 1 hit, 3 strikes for 3 other batters faced. And so on.

Now since he got 4 strikeouts and no walks, he probably did throw a fair amount of strikes. But don't trust the pitch counts for these games.
