Injury threads

Posted

Why was the news of Cain getting injured in Spring Training not helpful? Do you want a separate thread for every IL stint such as if Urias comes back and then subsequently put on the IL again. Just trying to get clarification since your original post was removed and most locks include a moderator explanation.

I'm guessing it was because it was a bumped thread from last season. It also appeared that Brock was miffed at the poster's lack of any sort of punctuation, which I TOTALLY understand, as that has bugged me for years with that particular poster.

Yeah, I was in a bad mood (and a little drunk) after watching the Timberwolves get demolished and took it out on the user. Not my finest moment.

But that doesn't mean I wasn't at least partially correct. Reviving old threads is bad policy, as a user may not know where to start, notice the date of the first post, and it just pollutes the first page of a forum. It's better to create a new thread if new injury news has broken or, like the Urias thread, it's an on-going issue where the first post is still relevant to the latest post.

Having giant, sprawling stream-of-consciousness topics may feel natural to established users who were here on day one but they're intimidating and off-putting to new users trying to discuss what is happening with the Brewers today, not accidentally click into an ancient thread with wildly out-of-date information.
