Wisconsin gets us started early at home today, seeking a 2-0 series lead over the Chiefs. LHP Russell Smith (5.86 ERA, 1.52 WHIP, 9.4 K/9 in 27 2/3 innings) is still trying to get on track, while LF Tristan Peters is 8-for-16 with 6 extra base hits over his past 4 games:

Nashville leads their series in Durham 1-0 and sends RHP Tyler Herb (1.31 ERA in AA; 8.10 ERA in AAA) to the mound for his 3rd AAA appearance of the year. LF Abraham Almonte has now homered in 4 straight games(!), raising his OPS to .932 in 103 plate appearances:

AA Biloxi needs a win today to even its series in Pensacola at one game apiece. RHP Justin Bullock (8.38 ERA, 1.97 WHIP, 5.6 K/9 in 9 2/3 innings) is scheduled to make his 5th start of 2022. DH/OF Noah Campbell makes his first start since May 13, while C Brent Diaz tries to homer for his 3rd straight game:

Tyler Herb came to flamethrow tonight! Through 2 he has 4 k's. No hits. No walks. Just flushed the Durham side with a strike out run in the second. Lots of movement on everything. This is Biloxi Tyler baby. Love to see it early. Nashville leads 1-0.

Herb was cruising. He had struck out 6 consecutive. The Sounds had all five hits. They led 1-0. And, hey baseball is hard: first 3-0 count and Durham's Miles Mastrobuoni crushes the dead center fastball over the wall in right. One batter later, and Jonathan Aranda crushes one to dead left center. It's now 2-1 Durham.

Jefferson Figueroa had two down with men on second and third in the first. He proceeded to walk the next batter. He then gave up a grand salami. It's 4-0 Lynchburg in the top half of the second.

Jakson Reetz just crushed his 11th home run of his 2022 season. It's 1-0 Biloxi in the top of the first. Is there a more surprising performer in the lower levels? I can't name one. He continues to just crush in 2022.

After being pulled in the seventh inning for 'defensive reasons' (noted as questionable or mildly suspicious in last night's game thread) after a caught looking k, Joey Wiemer is notably not in tonight's line-up. Instead, we have Jakson Reetz in left field and Tristan Lutz in right field. This is worth keeping an eye on. Did Joey tweak something in the swing before he struck out? It was a classic tornado swing as we see night in and night out.

Low-A Carolina is down 1-0 in this week's series in Lynchburg and turns to RHP Jefferson Figueroa (3.38 ERA, 1.65 WHIP, 10.8 K/9 in 13 1/3 innings) to start Game Two. 2B Zack Raabe (.278 AVG / .415 OBP / .371 SLG) is back in the line-up, coming in with a 12-game on-base streak:

The Mudcats are right back in the game and CF Jackson Chourio is moving even further up those prospect rankings: He hit a 3-run, 3rd inning homer (2nd of the year) to the opposite field on a 1-2 pitch to score Arbert Cipion (who's 2-for-2 thus far) and Eduardo Garcia. Lynchburg 4, Carolina 3.

Mario Feliciano is making a case to be on the major league roster.

It's going to be hard for him to crack that Catcher rotation. He's been fantastic though. He's 23 so there really isn't a rush given how well both catchers at the Big Club are playing. The Brewers, as a whole, have an embarrassment of riches at the Catcher position. Severino's suspension be damned: the Brewers are stacked. Double-A, Triple-A, and Low-A we have sexy prospects. I'm not sold on anything behind the plate in Wisconsin (don't get me wrong, Alex Hall and Wes Clarke have been great in their roles. I simply find Darrien Miller one of our most over-rated prospects. To boot, he's seen a 90% successful steal rate on him. With automatic zones upcoming, that's a big negative).

To Robocaller's point, Mario Feliciano has an RBI double and RBI single in his two at-bats today, with that 2nd at-bat scoring INF Mark Mathias (walk, double in two plate appearances in his first game back in AAA after being optioned from the Big Club).

Nashville also got two runners aboard with nobody out in the 5th inning, but was undone by an infield lineout double play ball. Nashville 2, Durham 2.

They were gorgeous hits. The second single, especially. He worked several pitches off to right field. Then, he roped a simple smooth single up the gut to score Mark. I'm watching Nashville. This is a good game.

Tyler Herb is hitting a wall of sorts here in the bottom-half of the fifth. He's been fantastic to this point with 8 k's. He walked the lead-off in four pitches. And walked the 3rd batter on four as well. After a 3-0 count on the second batter he worked it full and induced a deep fly out. 1 down. Men on first and second. 2-2.

I agree. I didn't really see a way he'd be brought up unless one of the MLB catchers was nicked up.

And, just like that Mario must have known we were talking about him. He drops his 8th passed ball on the season on a very routine inside fastball. The runners advance to second and third. Murphy's Law. LOL.

After that unfortunate start, Jefferson Figueroa proceeded to retire the next 9 batters he faced, before walking a man with 2 outs in the 4th inning. No harm though, as the next batter flied out.

Carolina's out-hitting Lynchburg 6-2, but trailing 4-3 as they head to the 5th inning

Oh baby. Herb works out of trouble there. With the ever-dangerous Jonathan Aranda at the dish in a 2-2 battle, He ropes a line drive right into the glove of Brice Turang at short stop who proceeds to casually pick off the runner off the bag at third. On to the sixth. What a tightly-fought game this is.

It's looking like the Sounds are warming up Nick Bennett to face this all-lefty Durham line-up in the sixth inning. Heck of a spot to make a Triple-A debut!

RHP Justin Bullock escaped a bases loaded, 1-out first inning without yielding a run (pop out, fly out), but the traffic continued in the 2nd and 3rd innings, resulting in 3 runs.

Having given up 6 hits and 3 walks through 3 innings, Biloxi can feel fortunate to only trail 3-2.

Oh, that 2nd Biloxi run came via yet another Jakson Reetz homer, his 2nd of the game and 12th of the year.

Nick Bennett, speaking for myself, gave me the Triple-A debut I was kind of anticipating. In my mind, this was a promotion mandated by a lack of LHP in the bullpen up in Nashville - not necessarily one based on performance. All told, he leaves after 4 walks and 4 runs with men on first and second. The Sounds trail 6-2. Hopefully, this was a case of nerves for Nick but he's struggled with control all season at Double-A. This is a significant leap in competition for Bennett.
