Lower payroll, more prospects now in org… so what will the Brewers do tomorrow?

Well, they have seemingly filled their "random hard-throwing reliever" quota with Rogers, Lamet and Bush, so I can't imagine there will be anymore pen moves today.

I expect a move for a utility type like Drury, considering it's looking like Jace is out till at least the end of this month. I'm not a fan of seeing Joey Gallo on this team, but I could see the Brewers perhaps taking a flyer on him. With both Peralta and Houser due back in short order, starting pitching shouldn't be a major need, but this team is always on the prowl for another arm they can slot into a role.

The glut of OFers they have in the upper minors makes me think that one of Mitchell, Frelick, Weimer, or Lutz may be gone by this evening.

Good point about needed a utility player if Peterson looks to be a long ways away.

I *really* don't like the idea of Gallo because I think the Yankees are just going to ask way too much for him. They have no real need to move anybody unless it suits their needs. Maybe I'm wrong.

I don't think Counsell can look the guys in the eyes tomorrow evening unless the team believes they got better at the deadline. I don't think the Hader trade made them better. For this reason, I believe SOMETHING will happen. I also think that acquiring a CFer that could end up blocking the Brewers 4 best prospects for 6 seasons says something else is in the works.

I'm on the record saying I don't really like Bell as an upgrade. I think Stearns will get somebody with additional years of control and pay with the prospect capital he now has at his disposal. Soto may be the target (Peralta+Chourio would be pretty enticing). But I think it will be Reynolds (something like Ruiz or Frelick+Kelly or Gasser).

I also think there is a chance that Stearns will sell off Severino and Narvaez and go get Sean Murphy.

Who is gonna want Severino?  He is ineligible for the post season this year.

A team that has no playoff aspirations this year, but has a need for a decent catcher for this year and next.

You are right.  I was thinking it azz-backwards.  ?
