Love to see that they've finally got the ACL/DSL info all on the same page as the full season affiliates now. About time!

Indeed. It's infinitely more easeful and convenient.

Yeison Perez did not knock an XBH today. He did end up 1-for-4 with an rbi. Not a double. Not a triple. Not a home run. I hope he's OK.

A little Mid-Day LHP Robert Gasser love. Check the twice-mentioned (previously by moi) slider action in this clip. He can really drop that puppy wherever he wants and however he wants in his Mix. It's a beautiful pitch:

The Timber Rattlers welcome 19-year old C Jeferson Quero (.757 OPS at Low-A Carolina) and 23-year old 3B Ben Metzinger (7th round draft pick in 2022) into the squad, as they face the South Bend Cubs at home this week. RHP Israel Puello (5.05 ERA, 1.34 WHIP, 9.7 K/9 in 82 innings) starts tonight's series opener:

Metzinger's numbers impressed in the ACL. Hopefully, we see good things from him in Wisconsin! This is a tough series so they'll need his bat to stay hot.

The Shuckers host a strong Rocket City Trash Pandas side (Angels' AA affiliate), with red-hot LHP Nick Bennett (1.50 ERA in last 18 innings) starting the opener. SS Andruw Monasterio comes in with an 11-game on-base streak:

AAA Nashville won their series last week, but the Columbus Clippers are even hotter, closing the Sounds' first place lead to just one game. ? RHP Tyler Herb (2.57 ERA over last 28 innings) gets the start in their series opener at home against Gwinnett. 22-year old SS Brice Turang is carrying a 16-game hitting streak and 23-game on-base streak:

He's one of the draftees I have high hopes for.

The Carolina Mudcats welcome a new leadoff duo in 2nd round pick 20-year old 2B Robert Moore and 1st round pick 21-year old SS Eric Brown Jr. They're on the road in Delmarva this week, with RHP Jeferson Figueroa (6 IP, 2 ER, 5 H, 2 BB, 7 Ks last time out) on the mound to start Game One:

Alright now, Robert Moore, I see you. He just hit an inside breaking ball with a calm easy swing on a 2-0 pitch down the line in left field. He grabs his first Mudcats hit - a double - getting Jose Sibrian to third base (opening walk) in the process. Men on second and third with nobody out and Eric Brown Jr. to the dish.

Brown Jr. fights off an inside pitch for a looping flare to right field plating Sibrian. Moore goes to 3rd. Moore Jr's first hit is an rbi. Avina to the plate. Still nobody out.

Boy, Robert Moore is cat-like quick. Extremely fast out of his break - on the base paths and in the field. He just chased down a weak chopper with an extremely fast base-runner and made it look entirely too easy. I'm impressed early here. And, then, to close the inning he took a well-hit grounder through the hole between first and second base with ease and fluidity and had to double-pump the throw as Chirinos set. This is an extremely athletic young player.

Mudcats’ pitching coach Drew Thomas ejected in the 4th inning, with team trailing 5-2. I hope he got his money’s worth.

Wisconsin trails South Bend 4-0 in the third inning, with the Cubs homering twice of Puello.

Biloxi trails 2-0 in the 3rd inning on a Trash Panda 2-run shot.

Nashville’s game was rained out.

He did indeed:

Eric Brown Jr. 2-run jack. It's now 5-4 Shorebirds. Yeah baby. He drove in who other than OB machine, Jadher Areinamo

The second homer off Puello was just a fantastic swing on an inside sweeping breaking pitch. Hats off on that. The third run was un-earned off a Metzinger throwing error (driven in on a seeing-eye single up the middle).

Biloxi suddenly has a Veteran lineup, other than Felix Valerio. Valerio doubled, Corey Ray walked, uber-productive Andruw Monsaterio singled in a run, Garrett Whitley hit a 3-run homer. And just like that, the game goes from down 2-0, to up 4-2. They’re poised to win a lot in these final weeks, assuming the pitching can hold up reasonably well.

RHP Michele Vassalotti enters in the bottom of the 6th inning for the Mudcats, only his 3rd appearance in the last 33 days. Carolina still trails 5-4.

And, I believe it's now fair to say, RHP Israel Puello is in a High-A rut. Since his inaugural outings he has really struggled of late. It all falls apart here in the fifth inning. With two down it goes like this:

Run-Scoring single

2-run HR

HBP

walk.

Woooof. T-Rats are being no-hit and now trail 7-0.

Who proceeds to walk three batters (after advancing the men on first and second with a wild pitch - a slider in the dirt and to the back-stop) and toss 27 pitches. He will try to get out of this with the bases juiced and two down. He's been, shall we say, wild?

AND, he gets a first swing pop-up to shallow center field and Eric Brown Jr. calls off Avina for the grab. Jace is going to have to learn in center field that's his ball.
