We see Yeison Perez was back in the clean-up spot and in right field. Two AB’s - a ground out and a walk. However we also see he was pulled after he was caught at second during an attempted double steal in the fourth. He was immediately replaced by Jose Gonzalez in right field.?

High-A Wisconsin leads its home series against South Bend 2-1 and will have RHP Zach Mort (4.38 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, 8.0 K/9 in 61 2/3 innings) starting tonight to extend the advantage. They also welcome 2B Ethan Murray back to the lineup for his first action in 10 days, while 1B Zavier Warren looks to continue his scorching month (1.337 OPS in 43 plate appearances):

The AA Shuckers trail their nip-and-tuck series at home against Rocket City 2-1, but will send out tough LHP Brandon Knarr (3.03 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, 9.2 K/9 in 110 High-A/AA innings) to capture a win tonight. RF Garrett Whitley (.945 OPS in 40 plate appearances) has been a solid addition to the Biloxi roster this month:

Nashville is clinging to a 1-game first place lead in the standings and also has a 2-1 advantage over Gwinnett in this week's home series, with 26-year old RHP Dylan File (4.48 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, 7.3 K/9 in 96 1/3 innings) on the hill tonight. SS Brice Turang and 2B Pablo Reyes may have seen their hitting and on-base streaks end yesterday in a shortened 7-inning game, but their August OPS' are nothing to slouch at (.896 and 1.011 respectively):

The Carolina Mudcats lead their series 2-1 in Delmarva and have 20-year old RHP Alexander Vallecillo ready to make his second Low-A start (he threw just 38 pitches in a difficult debut). First round pick SS Eric Brown Jr. is off to a flying start in the organization (1.067 season OPS in 31 plate appearances with 7 stolen bases in 8 attempts):

Final: DSL Colorado 2, DSL Brewers #1 Squad 0, seven innings as scheduled
Box Score / Game Log

Professional get-your-feet-wet middle relief debut for 19-year-old Dominican RHP Cristofher Carrasco, who was signed to a deal in May. Bullpen mate Justin Caceres, a native of Nicaragua and in his true age 17 season, has thrown five scoreless innings in his last two outings.

Just three singles for the Crew here.

Final: DSL Texas Blue 3, DSL Brewers #2 Squad 0
Box Score / Game Log

Yikes, if Team One struggled, this was real silence. Just one base hit over nine innings, It was a leadoff single in the 5th from Panamanian native OF Irving Igualas (DH'ing here), so if nothing else we're at least pointing out how diverse internationally the Brewers have been. Capping that, Igualas was immediately caught trying to steal second base.

The Dueces Wild club did not run wild on the basepaths. One of the two players who walked, power bat RF Yeison Perez, was also caught stealing in the top of the 4th, and concerningly immediately exited the game.

Three Crew relievers combined for six innings of one-run ball.

That's 1 IP in Alexander Vallecillo's book tonight and, hey, let's light some candles; blow up some balloons; and serve up some darn cake! He just lowered his ERA by 102! ? 2 K's, 0 H, 0 BB. I love it. He even strutted after throwing a 1-2 breaking ball, fooling the hyeck out of the batter, and then walking right off the mound toward the dug out before the out was called. Juicy.

The Mudcats strand OF Jace Avina on second base after he had knocked a one out single over the third baseman and into left field and then stealing his first base in Low-A (1-for-2 so far). Eduarqui Fernandez skies a pop up just past second base and Branlyn Jaraba strikes out on a slider outside the zone. On to the bottom half.

I do miss Jeferson Quero in Carolina: Alex Hall mishandles a low breaking ball that sneaks under his mitt and behind him. He then proceeds to rush throw to third base and air mail it into the outfield. And, with ample time to grab the runner, the throw home is too high for the shorter catcher. That was a Low-A special. 1-0 Delmarva. I sure hope that run is un-earned. Yuck. The scorer has marked it a PB followed by an E2. Wooof.

A couple 'too flat' heaters very hittable from LHP Brandon Knarr early but no damage is done. His off-speed as dynamic as ever and his flow on-point and fan friendly. On to the bottom half and it's 0-0 while the Shuckers take their swings. I will say, C Brent Diaz continues to please the eyes when he plays. I find him vastly underrated in our system for whatever reason. He had a heck of a throw for a pick-off at 1B to grab the second out. He can swing the bat some as well.

Definitely not the start which Zach Mort and the Rattlers hoped for against a strong South Bend club, as they give up 5 runs on 4 hits in the top of the 1st inning. Cubs swinging early and effectively.

Alexander Vallecillo exits after 5 innings and can hold his head high: 1 earned run, 4 hits, 2 walks, 4 Ks.

But the Mudcats trail 2-0 and have only one hit offensively. Time to pick it up.

Rocket City had plenty of traffic against Biloxi and finally breaks through with 4 runs in the 4th inning off starter LHP Brandon Knarr, aided by two errors, an infield hit and a big triple. The Shuckers trail 4-0 and also have managed just one hit offensively.

A Sal Frelick leadoff double and two walks produce zero runs for Nashville, then Gwinnett smacks a 2nd inning homer. Sounds down 2-0.

3 doubles and 3 walks give South Bend 3 more runs in the 4th inning and force Wisconsin to go to the bullpen. Joey Matulovich replaces Zach Mort. Timber Rattlers trail 7-0 and it may get worse.

Offenses are finally waking up. Hits by Cam Devanney, Thomas Dillard and Felix Valerio open the Shucker bottom of the 5th inning. 2 runs scored cut the gap to 4-2.

But we need Carolina's offense to appear as well. They're down to their final 3 outs in a 2-0 game.

Well, that was a masterclass from Delmarva's previously struggling Yaqui Rivera, as he throws 41 strikes in 50 pitches of 5 inning scoreless relief. Mudcats are 1-hit in 2-0 loss. Better luck tomorrow young men!

In better news, Brent Diaz also singled for Biloxi, as they claw to within 4-3, entering the 6th inning.

Wisconsin finally breaks through against the South Bend starter, as Ben Metzinger hits his first minor league homer, a 3-run pull shot in the 4th inning. Only 5 more runs needed to tie it up. ?‍♂️ Timber Rattlers trail 8-3.

Mr. Consistent Pablo Reyes doubles in Brice Turang to tie it 2-2, then scores on a double steal as Garrett Mitchell causes havoc with his speed (infield hit, stolen base, also eventually scores on an error). That's 3 runs in the 3rd inning to give Nashville a 4-2 lead.

Reidy Mercado and Zavier Warren single to produce one more Rattler run. Still down 8-4 though going into the 6th inning.

Meanwhile, the Shuckers hard work is undone in the top of the 7th inning, as Zach Vennaro gives up 3 runs (possibly more) on 4 singles and 2 walks. Biloxi is down 7-3.
