Pretty straightforward. Here’s the importance of each season:

1. Brewers win the World Series.

2. Cubs don’t win the World Series.

If any team prevents #1 or fails to prevent #2 at the World Series level, they are on the $#!+ list. The Cardinals (who were already on the list from 1982) wouldn’t have been added in 2011 since it wasn’t the in the World Series (same with the Dodgers in 2018).

The same goes for the Broncos in Super Bowl XXXII.
