Game 5: NY Giants @ Green Bay(London) - Sunday, October 9th 8:30AM CT

The Giants are making a good-faith effort at throwing the Packers out of their stacked box sets.  And so far, it has not been the secondary’s finest hour.

I was thinking before this drive this is when the defense always lays down and lets teams hang around rather than putting them away when they are on the ropes. Even pinned them back on kickoff and doesn't matter.

Wait, we have under two minutes left, and all our timeouts?  How is that even possible?

The irony is that we piss away timeouts in every situation known to man and when we finally have a situation where it makes all the sense in the world to start calling them we keep it in our pocket. Mind boggling.

Why are we not using timeouts?

To be fair, MLF is not used to having any timeouts left at this point in the game.

I have no idea what that third down call was all about.  They went with extra blockers on 3rd and ten?  And when the predictably feeble gain kept the clock running, had to rush the FG team out there with no TO.

But big ups to the special teams with flawless execution there.

That was PI

Meh. Would have been a pretty cheap PI call. Ball was just badly underthrown. Back never turned around but the contact wasn't egregious.

What a terrible penalty by Savage.

We are clearly a far more talented team than the Giants, but like we do constantly, we do just enough poor things to let an inferior opponent stay within striking distance.

Savage is probably the weakest link in the secondary.

As long as we score a TD or two, I can live with seven-minute FG drives by New York, but this defense is exhibiting worrying trends.

Does Joe Barry ever try something different on 3rd down other than rushing 4 and dropping 7 back into a zone?

Every week we go through a period where the defense can't get stops. They look talented enough to be better, I am starting to question whether we have the right DC again.

Right side of the line is still a huge liability.  Have to get that fixed, and I’d be shocked if the answer isn’t Jenkins at G and Nijman or Tom at RT.  But I get why they don’t want Bakh playing big snaps on turf.
