Yes let's anger our current allstar closer to bring back our former allstar closer that's a clear rental. Tell him "it's a part of life", I am sure professional athletes that haven't secured the bag yet would love to hear that. When is another time a clear dominant (with a dominant track record) closer was moved to the 8th inning for another pitcher from a trade at the deadline?

I do agree that this likely wouldn't happen. I am okay moving a few prospects for this season but would not mortgage our future when I feel we are at least a few guys away.

I don't know, tell me when a team went and got a reliever that had been on their team the previous 6 years winning reliever of the year 3 of them, an all star in 4 of them and I'll see if I can meet your very specific set of criteria?

I guess when the Brewers re-aquired Jeffress during the 2nd most successful team in franchise History in 2018 and Knebel had to split the closer role with Jeffress while the team lost in 7 games to the Dodgers to go to the WS would be the example that comes to mind most recently, but you meet my EXTREMELY specific set of examples and then I'll meet yours, ok?

This all seems like a very pointless argument as the chance this happens are exceedingly low, but I don't think you run a team out of fear of "angering our all star reliever."

This idea (bringing back Hader in a trade) seems to be another "sentimental" but silly idea

The cost would be too great & we need bats & possibly a quality starter (depending on Miley & Woody injuries & recoveries) - not more relief pitching

Hader also refused to pitch more than an inning with the Brewers but has no problem doing it for the Padres.

Hader has pitched more than an inning with the Padres 1 time and that was in the playoffs, so that's not at all true.

Looking at what the BP guys have done who are already here, then add to that Uribe coming up here and (mostly) throwing strikes--something I was concerned about--nah, I wouldn't want to put resources toward bringing Hader back. Much greater needs.
