No, that title definitely goes to cream and lozenges boy. He had an OPS well over 1.000 that year in the postseason if I recall right. It was part of the reason he didn't look too great in retrospect because he had the bonkers performance to go with the positive PED test.

According to my Excel sheet, Win Shares per series:

vs ARI

Braun 0.506

Morgan 0.304

Hairiston 0.120

Fielder 0.078

Hart -0.011

Lucroy -0.036

Betancourt -0.082

Weeks -0.244

vs STL

Hairiston 0.276

Braun 0.255

Betancourt 0.211

Hart 0.014

Lucroy -0.15

Fielder -0.079

Weeks -0.097

Morgan -0.104

Yuni had a fine LCS.

Man, 1B was quite the position of strength for the 2013 Brew Crew.  You had Juan Francisco(62GS), Yuni B (46 GS), Sean Halton (19 GS), Alex Gonzalez (16 GS), Maldonado (7GS), Lucroy (9GS) and for the other 3 games some guy named Blake Lalli who I cannot remember at all.

Don't know why I remember it, but Blake Lalli was a catcher.

Sure, there has been plenty of Latin talent for decades, but that has certainly increased greatly in the last 10-15 years as teams really ramped up investment there. SS has certainly seen a huge increase, though some of that is hard to quantify because there is so much depth in the minors many guys get moved off of the position before ever reaching the majors. It is just about impossible in the year 2024 to be anything outside of plus-defense at SS and stay there all the way to MLB.

Imagine that; finding some teenagers with superstar potential and being able to sign them for pennies on the dollar to what players via the amateur draft; it’s funny it took teams as long as it did to extensively scout and have training academies in the islands. Before 2018 the Brewers physical presence in the D.R. consisted of two baseball fields behind a barn on land owned by Solomon Torres

I couldn't find data from 2017 - 2022. 2023 was just a hair over 30% (30.2%). So the points in orange are estimates based on the rate increase from 2016 - 2023. The big jump happened in the mid to late 90s and it leveled off from 2001 (26%) - 2017 (27.8%) with an increase of about 3% since 2017. The latest increase is probably due to the academies.

Hit well in 2011 NLCS when the chips were down…that negates most everything else for me. Coulda/shoulda got a better SS that year, sure. Knowing now that we didn’t make the playoffs for another 7 years, we could have sold the farm for a better SS and other pieces, as well.
