25-year old RHP TJ Shook (2.89 ERA with 25 Ks in 18.2 IP) is the oldest long man on the Shuckers and has been in AA ball since May 19, 2022. You’ve gotta figure that he’s chomping at the bit to get to AAA.

Minor note: AA Southern League ERA 3.48; AAA International League ERA 4.95. Adjusting to AAA ball takes time and work - see CF Rodriguez, Blake Holub and James Meeker for further proof.

RF Lamar Sparks’ deep funk continues, K’ing on 4 pitches with 1 out and runners on the corners in the 2nd inning. 0-0 through 2 innings. Stranded runners: Biloxi 3, Tennessee 0.

Oh, our Shuckers are facing 34-year old rehabbing MLBer Kyle Hendricks.

Pretty sure AA and AAA use the same baseballs. They didn't last season in the first half obviously, but pretty sure AA, AAA, and MLB are supposed to be using the same ball with A and A+ using a different ball. I think the AAA ERA being so high is mostly because the automated strike zone is significantly smaller than human zones in AA.

20-year old RHP Jesus Rivero (4.11 ERA, 1.24 WHIP, 11.7 K/9 in 15.1 IP) starts for Low-A Carolina as they aim for a 3-0 home series lead over Columbia. LF Yhoswar Garcia has dropped to 2nd in SBs in the Carolina League (11), so will try to make up ground.

After just 20.1 IP in AA ball, 24-year RHP Tyler Woessner (2.66 ERA with 29 Ks) makes his debut for AAA Nashville. The Sounds trail Norfolk 2 games to 0 in this week’s home series. After 2 weeks in the majors, 1B Owen Miller is back.

What a inning so far for the Mudcats, 3 hits back to back to back as it's 4-1 muddies

Looks like the full sequence was Daniel Guilarte walk, Yophery Rodriguez triple, then consecutive singles by Cooper Pratt, Tayden Hall, Luis Castillo, Kay-Lan Nicasia and Blayberg Diaz have run the score to 5-1 with the bases loaded and no outs before Yhoswar Garcia popped out to break the streak.

A Miguel Briceno sac fly moves it to 6-1 Carolina before Blayberg gets picked off to end the inning.

Shuckers dropped game one 5-3.

Biloxi did manage two runs off a rehabbing Hendricks (0 BB | 7 K in 5 IP) with the aforementioned Boeve (3-4, 2B) and Zavier Warren (3-3, SBx2) having the big days at the plate (and on the basepaths).

Russell Smith is the first Zero Clubber of the night with 1 IP | 1 H | 1 K.

Rivero puts up another zero top of four via ground out, fly out, HBP, K.

Bottom of four we have a Guilarte double followed by a Yophery single to kick things off.

And a Cooper Pratt reach on error makes it 7-1 Carolina.

Runners on first and second no outs and a Tayden triple clears the bases.

Now 9-1 Mudcats, still no outs.

After dropping the first game of today’s doubleheader, the AA Shuckers turn to LHP Nate Peterson (3.66 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, 9.2 K/9 in 19.2 IP) for the night cap. C Andy Yerzy is the only lineup change, as we wonder about INF Freddy Zamora’s whereabouts.

Woessner's first AAA inning didn't go well. 2 HR given up.

Looks like the Sounds are picking him up in their half of the first with Yonny Hernandez and Isaac Collins walks plus a Brewer Hicklen double and Owen Miller triple even-ing the score at three apiece.

Wisco loaded the bases with one out bottom of first via Luis Lara walk, Gregory Barrios single, Luke Adams walk.

Matthew Wood then grounded into a 5-4-3-2 double play with Lara scoring and Barrios out at home.

1-0 Wisco heading to top of two.
