Chourio got away with a base running mistake there

I wouldn't be surprised if he was simply going on 1st movement vs the LHP w/2 outs & Luzardo just happened to throw to 1st, which the way this series went isn't surprising.

At least the concept of wanting to run made sense, unlike the 2nd inning steal attempt by The Genius.

In the grand scheme of things, a 1-2 series loss to the Marlins is not the end of the world.

I can also see some sense in the lineup decisions by Murphy. First of all, lefties starting so platoon splits play a role like it or not. And you also get to see how the bottom of the bench performs against a team that you can lose to without any major consequences (a series loss to the Cubs has a bigger impact on the season for example).

So guys like Monasterio show a decent performance (3-10 1 BB 1 HR 1 SB) and prove they deserve a spot in the bench.

After watching Luzardo tonight, the best strategy was to make him work, which every time we tried resulted in an 0-1, 0-2 count. Would've been nice to turn in a bunch of ABs like we did in the 4th (9 pitches to Contreras, 8 to Yelich), but very little 'grinding' of at-bats going on. The guy was probably better than Weathers on Monday, which is saying something. A couple more bunt attempts in front of the hefty 3B before he moved to 1st would've been nice.

At least Willy was heads-up. Yep, need to get to 3rd base anyway you can, with 2 outs. For crying out loud.......

As things stand now, I actually think he'd be running out this lineup vs a LHP regardless of the opponent. I would've started Turang in one of these three games, but I get it. Maybe, just maybe his great numbers this year are due to how he's being used. But for those who lament "He'll never get a start vs a LHP", I doubt that.

I think some of the consternation would be lessened if Hoskins were available & out there in place of Miller.

Definitely missing Hoskins this series but how does Owen Miller go from fighting for his career in Nashville to starting 3 straight games on a first place club? 🤔

If they brought back Black when Hoskins went down they'd have two LHH 1B on the roster, which they wouldn't do nor should they. Wes Clarke was injured & for some odd reason started the year in AA. He's doing very little in Nashville since being promoted. Their only other realistic option was to bring Haase here & pair Sanchez at 1B w/Bauers.

Whether it was a palatable decision or not is debatable I guess, but that's how.

Odds are tho that if you can't score at least 5-6 runs per game your doomed as a contending team.

Do you think Turang hits lefties better than Monasterio?  Turang is 4-18 against lefties this season for a .222 average and it was quite obvious last season that he could not get the knack against lefties.  I wish Turang could hit lefties better, BUT ... not so, so far, AND Andrew Monasterio was a very fine player (better than Turang offensively by a good margin) last season.

4-18. Yup, permanent platoon. Last year turang wasn't good against either handed pitchers. He was generally lost. Check his minor league splits. He's also not going to improve against lefties if he doesn't face them. Benching turang against lefties is short sighted checkers for simpletons

God these platoons are so stupid.  If you want to platoon two bad hitters like Frelick and Chourio fine.  You don't platoon three spots in the order and replace two of your better hitters with AAA level righties.  Sure it would have been a fine series to give Turang or Baurers one off day, not benching them for all three games. There's a reason this team has been terrible against lefty starters the last several years and it's too much platooning.  What works on paper doesn't work in reality.

Both turang and bauers had been on a bit of a roll too. Can't sit these guys 3 days in a row right now. It's horrendous management.

Frustrating series.

The only positive thing about this series is that I can think is with Gasser going 6 and Freddy going 7 coupled with the day off today sorta resets the bullpen for the Red Sox series and going forward.

I agree with some of the others that I would of given Turang, at least,  a start in one of these games.  I know he doesn't hit LHP well but I would think with his adjustments this season he be given a longer leash to see. In my opinion is splits against lefties is still a small sample size this year.   As a team we aren't really lighting the world on fire against lefties this year so I'm not sure we have the roster to utilize platoons to their full potential.  Need to play the best 9, regardless of Right/Lefty handiness 3 out of 4 days.  Below doesn't take into account yesterday's loss.

Absolutely..,  Turang's .310 batting average isn't off just righties.  Monasterio can't hit righties or lefties batting only .150

Well, that was a Luz-kill!

My tears will spill.

But if the Cubs go up in smoke,

I won't feel so broke!

I'm gonna keep a drinkin'
Till I'm petrified
And then maybe these tears will leave my Brewer eyes
There's a tear in my beer
'Cause I'm cryin' for the Crew
You are on my lonely mind
Last night, I walked the floor
Just like the night before
The Crew is on my lonely
It seems my life is through
And I'm so doggone blue
Brewers are on my lonely mind
I'm gonna keep a drinkin'
'Till I just can't move a toe then my heart won't hurt me so
Brewers are on my lonely mind
I'm a-gonna keep a-drinkin' 'Till I can't even think
'Cause in the last week,  I ain't slept a wink
Brewers are on my lonely mind
There's a tear in my beer
'Cause I'm crying for the Crew
You are on my lonely mind

I am thinking ...

you should stop drinking!

Even if a Brewers series is stinking,

I think it's just a yellow light blinking!

Trust in the Brew Crew

to get you through!
