Nice job by the Shuckers to fight back to a 4-4 score. CD Rodriguez singled and scored in the 2nd inning, then reached via passed ball K and scored in the 4th inning, both times on Darrien Miller RBI singles. Adam Hall followed up with a 2-run double to knot the game in the 4th inning.

Castillo singles, Norman strikews out, and then we get yet another awful defensive play by the Fireflies.

Briceno hits a ball to third, The shortstop almost had it but the third baseman rushes to the ball and throws widely. All runners are safe. 2nd and 3rd with one out for Acosta.

Woof another botched play. Acosta grounds to second, The second baseban throws to home on the contact play but the throw mises the catcher and a run scores.

8-3 Muddies, runners on the corners (scratch that Acosta steals a bag) as there is a pitching change.

Pretty nondescript Wisco box in the 5-1 loss but Patricio Aquino did finish the game with four scoreless frames of one hit ball striking out five.

Bowman gave two back in the bottom of the 6th. Shuckers trail 6-4 but they have runners on the corner with nobody down. Top of the 7th.

Sanchez in trouble. Single, HBP and wild pitch make it runners on 2nd and 3rd with one out. Walks the next guy and the bases are loaded.

Zero zero in Nashville bottom of six.

Evan McKendry has thrown 4.2 IP in relief of DL Hall with only one hit against five strikeouts.

Speaking of Hall. I see a max four-seam velo of 96.1 mph. Averaged 94.1 mph. 36 pitches. 15 swings. 4 whiffs. Zero meaningful contact on his slider - avg exit velo of 77.4 mph. Did get tagged for a 105.2 mph exit velo line out off a 4-seamer. Also tagged for a 102.9 mph single off a change-up.

Another wild pitch but Norman recovers quickly, throws home and Sanchez tags the runner out at home. Looks hurt though and the trainers are out.

Oh baby. The Shuckers want the 'W's in Rocket City. A WP just scored two. 6-6 game. AND, just after that Boeve rocked a HR over the RF wall. A two run jack. 8-6 Shuckers. Let's go! He golfed out a 93 mph heater off the inside of the plate.

Awesome. Boeve hadn’t hit a HR from 5/4 - 6/14. Now two in a calendar week. Please let this be a trend. Would love to get him hitting again.

Pratt and Walling single. García with a sac-fly. 9-3 Muddies. Nothing else on the inning. To the bottom of the 9th. Get that 3 inning save Mr.Sanchez!

Nope. Harrison Durrow is in

9-5 ballgame with one out, bottom of the 9th. Durrow needs to lock in.

Gets a strikeout groundout and that is the game.

9-5 Mudcats win. Pitching was not the best by the Carolina bullpen but the bats do really well to get the win. A couple of Fireflies' defensive miscues also helped.

The Muddies end the first half with a strong win.

One thing is for sure, say what we want about the WP's from Sanchez. That turn and get from Satchell Norman and the sprint; slide/dive; and tag from Sanchez was legit ridiculously spry and athletic. Heck of a play to keep a run off the board.

Fireflies have had miscues all series. It's pleasing to see the Muddies with less mistakes.

Sanchez didn't come back out for the 9th because he tossed 32 pitches in the 8th. Whewwww.

Wow didn't see the number. Makes sense though. Loaded the bases a few times and had I think 2 full counts.

Norman struck out to end of the 8th on a weird reach flailing swing and miss on a slider low and well outside the zone. He was subbed out for C Blayberg Diaz in the 9th. Will be something to possibly pay attention to tomorrow and into the weekend. Hopefully, he didn't tweak anything.

RHP Sam Carlson pitches a dominant 8th frame with 2 K. His last K on three pitches. We are on to the 9th in a 8-7 game. Shuckers lead. Let's go! A 3-0 series lead would feel so dang sweet after the past month.
