Absolutely dominant outing from Shane Smith despite throwing on 4 days' rest. Retired 17 of 18 batters faced. 7 Ks. 51 strikes in 68 pitches. He exits with Biloxi up 4-1 with 2 outs in the bottom of the 6th inning. What a story he is!!

Re: SHane Smith -Was just going to post the same thing. I will watch the game later, but he got through the order 2 times with reasonable pitch count. I am sure it was a stretching the pitch count up and not letting him go through the order 3rd time to protect him and given confidence as he transitions to starting as a Pro.

Great outing. Also nice Pro debut for recent signee Tyler Bryant. Retired 4of 5 hitters, with 1 walk, no hits and 2 K.  That's your first taste of affiliate ball young man.

Nate Peterson is not as sharp today, but thankfully only allowed an inherited runner to score (from Justin King in the 7th) while escaping his own traffic in the 7th and 8th. He walks the lead off batter in the 9th and gives way to Blake Holub. Shuckers up 4-2, trying to close it out.

Jeferson Figueroa gave up 2 ding dongs in the 5th, but Luis Castillo doubled and scored in the 7th. Carolina trails 4-3 in the top of the 8th inning.

Cooper Pratt was having a rare off game (2 Ks, a GIDP), but singles with 1-on, 1-out in the 8th inning as Carolina puts the pressure on Colombia.

Unfortunately, nothing came of that: Guilarte force out, Walling K. Carolina needs a hero in the 9th inning, still down 4-3.

Holub slammed it shut: fly out, K, single, K. That's a 4-2 Biloxi win today, while also claiming the series 5 games to 1. This team is looking much better since The Wolverine joined their squad 3 weeks ago.

Nothing doing in the 9th either. And Yhoswar Garcia exited mid-at bat during the 2nd out. That's not good. Mudcats lose 4-3.
