I’d been thinking we may need to draft more catchers, but just realized the DSL foursome of Luis Corobo, Kevin Garcia, Freider Rojas and Yoneiker Lugo may already have us quite excited for the future. What a year for our DSL squads.

Am I correct in assuming they aren't exactly 'high' on Satchell Norman defensively (as a catcher)?

DSL Brewers 1 game is suspended after 2 innings. Luis Pena had an RBI triple in the 1st inning, so I'm sure he will want that game to be resumed.

Well, I don't know if we can assume they are thinking any particular thing. BUT, Norman, to date at least, certainly hasn't flashed defensive prowess. The injury he suffered very early in the season, however, was a major set back to any momentum he had. I think this mini-break will hopefully get him an actual reset to re-calibrate.

DSL Crew Dos win 11-4 and they have a 6:4 in-game BB:K ratio? Love it. 16-14 on the season as they've won two straight. Heck of an output by the lineup as every man gathered a knock.  Quintana, Montero, Tovar, Lugo, and Polanco all with two or more pokes. Anderson with a poke and a free pass in lead-off. Incredible offensive performance.

Speaking of Anderson......his power surge has been well documented, but I see he has SIX OF assists already on the season. And almost as many walks as Ks. Sounds like a pretty full package.

Maybe we were reading too much into it, but in the 2023 ACL Playoffs, the team went with then-19-year old Edgardo Ordonez at catcher in 3 games and Alejandro Rodriguez in the 4th game, with then-21-year old Satchell Norman only DHing despite his terrific season OPS.

Norman threw out 4 of 42 baserunners (10%) in that campaign, with 9 passed balls and 2 errors in 147 innings, while Ordonez threw out 9 of 29 (31%) baserunners with 2 passed balls and 2 errors in 165.1 innings.

While Norman has improved in some areas in 2024 (24% CS rate, only 2 PBs), he does have 6 errors and his bat is letting him down (.515 season OPS). Oddly, Ordonez has seriously regressed in 2024 in the limited defensive metrics we have access to (12% CS rate, 6 PBs, 7 errors), but he's also hit 7 HRs in the Arizona Complex League (vs. 1 in 2023).

Birchard in his first game action since 4/6 gave up an ER in the 1st inning on a 2-out single by rehabbing Max Muncy (A's) and double. He had 2 strikeouts including 1 against fellow Brewer and also rehabbing Esteury Ruiz. To be seen if he comes out for the 2nd inning.

4-3 Crew lead. Bitonti took 3rd on a pitcher change and first pitch WP. Alastre sent him from with a sac fly to CF. Athletics are back up.

RHP Easton McGee just pitched an ACL rehab high 3 IP. He allowed the 2 ER in his first frame but went scoreless in the two following innings. 4 H, 0 BB, 2 ER, and 5 K. Crew still lead 4-3 as they head to the plate in the top of the 5th.

LHP Anthony Flores pitches a scoreless, 1 H, 2 K 5th inning spelling McGee after his three-inning stint. Man, Flores can strike a batter out with the best of them in the desert. That's now 52 K in 35 2/3 IP on his ACL season.

Bitonti has accounted for all the runs - 3 RBI on his 2B and a run scored.

Alastre singles to lead off the 6th, and T. Rodriguez doubles, runners in 2nd and 3rd. Let’s get some runs. Heck let’s get Bitonti to bat this inning ;)

Flores with a fantastic outing as he continues to truly shine in distinct moments throughout his season. 2 2/3 IP, 1 H, 0 BB, and 4 K. His K rate just continues to absolutely shine. RHP Sam Gardner will likely come out for the 8th frame - he already has a K under his belt in 1/3 IP. He'll get Esteury Ruiz and Max Muncy in the 8th. A fine test for Gardner!

Gardner just K'd three straight to begin his outing - including Ruiz and Muncy to open the 8th. THAT is the Gardner I know and love baby!

4 straight K’s which likely will be the end of his outing.

I really hope Anthony Flores gets the bump to Carolina when the ACL season ends. I know his ERA isn’t good but his peripherals are quite strong.
