The DSL Cerveceros Uno have already played this morning - a 5-1 loss to the Padres Gold. Five hits apiece and I have yet to dig into the Game Logs.

The DSL Cerveceros Dos, however, lead the Astros Blue 3-1 in the fifth inning.

Ahhhh, we have a tale of diverging 'Just announced as All-Star' performances.

We have INF Luis Pena giving us a patented 2-for-2, 1 R, 2 2B (his 10th), 1 HBP, 1 SB (his 31st) performance

and...

We have an INF Jesus Made 0-for-3 line and a RHP Wanderlyn King struggle in 2 1/3 IP of 5 H, 2 BB, 2 K, and 5 ER ball taking the 'L' and falling to 2-2 on his season.

OF Frandy Lafond just singled and stole his 8th base - he also has another free pass earlier in the contest. AND, he just stole third base for his 9th steal of his summer. I continue to be very very intrigued by this young man's game. Unfortunately, he was stranded.

17-year-old C Luis Corobo smacked his second long ball of his summer.

The DSL Crew Dos continue to lead 3-1 in the sixth inning. Scratch that RHP Justin Lugo has really run into two-out trouble here in the sixth. It is now 4-3 Astros and Lugo has been pulled. Lugo's damage began with a walk, a WP, a walk, a single, a PB, a single, and a walk. Dominican 19-year-old RHP Fabian Reyes came on in relief and immediately walked the next batter to get the bases loaded. The baseball gods, having seen enough of the youthful folly, sent forth lightning. The game is now delayed. Yeeesh.

Oh wow, because they were playing @ the Brewers Dominican Complex and because the Brewers Dos were incapable of batting and because the Astros Blues were still in their half of the sixth frame - up 4-3, two down, and the bases still juiced - the game is called after 5 complete innings. The Brewers #2 get a crucial 'W' in the Win/Loss column and are awarded a 3-1 victory. They remain 5.0 GB first place DSL Pirates Gold.

With the Crew Uno's second consecutive loss, their division lead over the Orioles Orange shrinks to 0.5 G. They sit at 20-11.

Rehabbing RHP Joe Ross has given up a first inning first pitch solo jack and a three run jack to the Orioles' Jackson Holliday. 4-4 game headed to the 4th.

High-A Wisconsin (56-30) has won 6 straight games and has the top full season record in the Midwest League by 5 games. They play at Twins’ affiliate Cedar Rapids (50-35) this week, with RHP Stiven Cruz (4.40 ERA, 1.40 WHIP, 7.2 K/9 in 28.2 IP) making his first start since August 2023.

AA Biloxi (42-43) gets its 3rd chance to claw back to a .500 record, hosting Rays’ affiliate Montgomery (48-39) for 3 games. 2B Adam Hall has hit safely in 12 of 13 games. 24-year old RHP Shane Smith (3.34 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, 10.9 K/9 in 62 IP) makes his 11th start (20th appearance).

Ross gives up 8 runs in 4 IP (not the final rehab outing the Brewers were looking for) and the Sounds trail 8-7. Two Tides runners on base and RHP Ryan Middendorf will try to escape this no out jam.

Sorry the fans and Brewers should not be expecting this guy to help the rotation especially in the second half. The really need an upgrade

Cargo hit another HR tonight. He must be eating more spinach over the past couple of weeks. EMJ went yard as well. Shuckers lead Montgomery 5-3.

And Yeager closes the door. 6-4 Shuckers.

Nice start by Shane Smith. And Bowman - Yoho - Yeager is a nice back end of the bullpen.

Pretty fun Sounds box despite the outcome and Ross/White duds.

Tyler Black: double, walk, made his third error in three games as a third baseman.

Isaac Collins: two doubles and a single.

Brewer Hicklen: tripled and singled.

Joey Wiemer: singled thrice, gunned out a runner at the plate.

Chris Roller: three run bomb and a single.

Jared Koenig: one inning, one hit, one K.

Wisco loses 2 to 1.

Luis Lara and Jadher Areinamo both singled and stole a bag. Matthew Wood doubled. Eduarqui Fernandez had the sole RBI.

Stiven Cruz (2 H | 1 HBP) and Tyler Wehrle (3 H | 2 HBP) each threw three scoreless frames without walking or striking anybody out.

Whatever his future holds, Joey Wiemer has had a very, very nice July.

I'm assuming the team hopes Wiemer shows enough offensive capability (particularly against LHP) to justify a September MLB roster spot -> CF defense when a LHP is on the mound. (I'm not fretting recent defensive lapses, since the focus is on getting back to an MLB level of hitting at the moment).

Otherwise Hicklen is the no-brainer as a high quality pinch hit bat who also runs well, though they wouldn't likely put him in CF.
