Exactly. Brewers have done this in the past; sign some players early on in the offseason to have a passable roster already. Not what they *want* to go into the new season with, but something they *could* do so with. And then spend the offseason trying to find something better for good value, without needing to make a bad deal because they have no other option.

Goldy just signed with NYY, so cross him off.

Profar is looking for something like 3/50 which I’d guess the Brewers believe is a little rich for a poor defensive LF with one outlier hitting season on the back of his baseball card.

Adames hit all those multi HRs because men were able to get on base ahead of him. Those lower solo HR are a result of the ability to hit hrs with men on base.  For now, I like the get on 1st and steal 2b the team is loaded with. If they are more capable of that, they should be more capable of scoring from 2nd on a base hit. The rebuttal is Contreras and Hoskins vs hitting HRs, they GiDP. It gets worse with those two batting next to each other in the order.
