Can anyone share anything about this player?

He played for the North Florida Osprey in the Atlantic Sun conference. I believe he was a selection to their Third Team? Regardless, plenty of highlights and such on his twitter page. He appears to be another short, stocky, contact guy. A Brewers type.

Thank you! Where will he be assigned to play initially? ACL or Carolina?

We won't know this until his signing is announced through official channels. If I had to hazard a guess, tho, I would imagine he heads to Arizona. There just isn't enough season left.

The Brewers most interesting international pitcher that has been signed in recent years was supposed to be RHP Yeuri Ramirez, a part of their 2025 international class.  For reasons unknown, Ramirez did not appear during the ‘25 campaign.  In a head-scratching turn of events, Ramirez has reportedly signed with the Detroit Tigers (awaiting confirmation).  I am not sure what the story is there, but will update if I learn anything more.

Anything on what's going on with Luke Adams? Did I miss that?

He's been in the Bridge League rehabbing, so wouldn't surprise me if he is getting close to a return as well.

Just to add more context here, it is my understanding (after talking with contacts in Arizona) Tobias is getting his MRI in Arizona today. It is also my understanding the 7-Day IL is procedural and he is highly highly likely done pitching in 2025 given what they already know of his injury.

In his Link Report for last Wednesday's games, @Joseph Zarr wrote:

Two storylines carry the Mudcats post-game sentiments. Firstly, the ongoing effectiveness and savvy of one LHP Enderson Mercado is a thing. 5.0 IP of 4 H, 1 BB, 2 K work. 73 pitches and 46 strikes. Mercado makes a living on the edges of the zone - both sides and below - as a dominant tactic. He doesn't wow with velocity but he's a lefty who locates. In Low-A, that's a winning recipe.

The second storyline is the 2 1/3 IP of RHP Griffin Tobias. I am near certain Tobias blew out his throwing elbow. I've seen this same reaction from a Brewers pitcher multiple times over the past two seasons. It hurts every time I see it and I can only imagine what Tobias is going through in this very moment. As I indicated in the night's game thread HERE, if you want to take a look for yourself it happened at 4:02:31 on the replay (MiLB.TV subscribers). Tobias was let down by his defense on numerous occasion throughout his outing  - I felt for him. Balls were getting hit hard, yes, but it felt like his tough luck outing was compounded in the worst way when his arm gave out. We'll have to wait and hear word in the days ahead. I don't have high hopes with this one, sadly. A 2 1/3 IP of 7 H, 0 BB, 2 K, 4 ER body of work to end a season injured leaves a bitter taste.

I mean not good for Markel and EBJ (man he is truly injury prone).

but awesome for Broca who has been coming on recently as a bullpen arm

and be still my beating heart - Wilken back. I had started to write him off for this season a few weeks back.

BUMP.

Though the second half of this statement may be true (I really don't know what the process will be from here - I still don't imagine returning to pitch in competitive games any time soon is realistic but I really can't speak to any of that), it appears, all things considered given the type of exit Tobias had back on August 20th, Griffin received quite favorable news after the MRI.

All I've heard from Arizona post-MRI is it looks like he has avoided surgery. I just had an MRI myself this morning - we plebes have a 72 hour minimum turn-aroud. So, kudos to fast turnaround for the paid young athletes! It sounded like what was being described is nerve and muscular related but I'm not going to call it anything specific given (a) I'm not a doctor; (b) I'm not in Griffin's close circle and (c) the Brewers will share with us in due time. I imagine what is going to happen from here is an unknown - type and length - rehab process. The big news here, however, is it certainly appears like young RHP Griffin Tobias has avoided the need for any type of surgical procedure! That's a huge win for him and his family. Here's hoping the recovery process goes smoothly and he comes back even stronger.

Absolutely crazy how quickly Crow and Kuehner got hurt after getting to AAA ball

Getting the band back together - getting Adams and Wilken back, and seeing Letson and Hardin pitching again, most of the early season stand outs are back. Now if Crow can get healthy, and keep Payne/Adamczewski/Dinges on the field and I’m getting excited.
