Do we expect Paul Goldschmidt will have a meaningful improvement in his age 37 season?

I was surprised to see his 1.3 wins above replacement level last year. It sure felt like less.

Unrelated note: Anthony Rizzo is still unsigned. Rizzo produced a .735 OPS during his four year stint in New York.

it rarely makes sense to want to sign a player for their entire career. The Cubs exited at the right time.

If 2025 spring training counts for anything he did hit .308.

I think he's cooked.

One of my priority wishes for this year is less nibbling from Freddy, more strikes, and pitch counts that aren't balooning out control by the 4th inning.

I think its because if he gets to aggressive against hitters he would be in big trouble sooner rather than later.  He is no where near as dominant as he was 4 years ago.

On the plus side he is never on the IL.

This is terrible karma but wouldn’t you rather have the Brewers lineup than the Yankees lineup today?

With 4 LH hitters against a LHP, including Frelick batting fifth, I’d have to say no.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

I mean to say the talent of our lineup might exceed the aggregate talent of today’s Yankees lineup.
