Man. Nadal misplays the bounce on a shallow single in LF. That 'should' be an error. It is an E7. Can not botch that in that moment. Runner holds otherwise. Ugh. The WP and that error loom large in Extras.

Langhorne deserves props for working through three innings in Xtras. He gets his 4th K to end the River Dogs half of the 12th. Can the Mudcats walk it off? Our main man Peña will get the immediate opportunity after Payne leads off.

Made immediately steals 3B. You love it. 22nd SB on the season. Aggressive take. Man, this is where I wish Payne (who is struggling of late) had a bunt in his bag. BUT, he doesn't. And he flails at a high outside K for his third K. He is a mess right now as I said last night. Nice RBI double last night. Yes. Still a hot mess at the dish.

Payne's injury issues really wiped away any momentum he had going for himself at the plate. Feel like his swing looks different every time he swings. Just in a really rough spot and it's seeping into his swing decisions now as well.

Yep. Hot mess. No consistency whatsoever at the dish. AB-to-AB it's something different in the swing path and then you have the swing decisions. Which, as I was opining there: if he had a bunt. BUT he does not.

BUT, what matters when you have a Peña? THAT young man is an absolute stud.

And Sepping comes undone with two out. He suffers from a jam shot flare muscled into RF (with Di Turi shading toward 1B). Payne and Anderson clearly didn't have solid communication. Payne takes it with slight trepidation and fires off a throw but it's too late. One batter later and Sepping gives up an RBI double. Brutal. 8-5 deficit.

Man, Payne's form makes me very sad right now.
