Gasser pitched well enough YESTERDAY to win against the defending World Champions.  Has he been good overall this year?  No.  Good Lord, if the Miz gives up three runs today, he sucks for sure.

I don’t even think you should say Gasser has been bad. He’s had a few blowup outings that have really crushed his overall line but the large majority of his starts have been solid. He’s had an ERA of 4.50 or better in 9 of his 14 starts and an ERA of 3.00 or better in 7 of his 14 starts.

This is an example of what I’m talking about that people do all of the time when evaluating players and teams. 

I think it’s fair to identify when a player has a couple of outings that skew his overall season results.

A classic example of that was Harrison’s outing in Las Vegas  

But when I point out that the Brewers run totals are pumped up by a stretch of 10 games 10 weeks ago, some people want to cry “cherry picking”.

As long as someone explains what they’re doing, like you have, I have no problem with it. Anyone who thinks that that is “cherry picking” and that only a pitcher’s ERA for the whole season is relevant, that’s their choice.

He just turned 27 so he will keep progressing.  Also,  That A's game killed his #'s allowing 6 runs in 5 innings (The Vegas game)

Joey Ortiz since June 1:  .296/.342/.472/.814  wRC+ 123.  We all know that he has been in fire lately, but there are those who may look at his season average and say he hasn't been doing well.  There was a highlight from some Dodgers podcaster that said that Ortiz had only a .670 OPS and was frustrated he got a hit on Thursday night.

I was a little overboard by saying that Gasser is having a bad season overall.  IMHO, he shoved and that shows his potential.

Oh yeah... wasn't Contreras behind the dish?  😉
