That's as close to a full apology that they were really bad I can recall in the league.

+1.... You have to monumentally screw up as a pro official to get any form of reprimand.

I don't follow the NFL, but let me get this straight-----the message being sent is that it's OK for sub-par officials to work a game that's not on prime-time, but the prime-time games are much too important for that?

I wonder what feelings are going through the minds of teams that don't have the big names, big hype, less merchandising pull, etc. Or do some of those teams get a turn at the prime-time slots as well? Like I said, I don't follow it. Just sounded a little strange to me.

It's not like the league has a practice squad of officials to call up and replace them.

They just don't want them to be the face of the league on a national stage or be the topic of discussion and distract from the game.

If the NFL demotes an officiating crew to an early afternoon game from a prime time game because of performance, maybe you shouldn't be fining the players that talk publicly about how bad they are.

You think you can hurt me? I watch the Packers in January. You can't hurt me.

Hah!!! Would love for a coach of one of the 'have nots' to raise that point.
