VH1 Storytellers - Jay-Z (American Gangster)

So I just randomly caught this show just starting for me & others on the West Coast. Fan of the guy, and I haven't heard any off this new album yet. As it's a concept album, and especially since it's a concept album by Jay-Z, I'll be wary. But I do love J's live incorporation of live instruments, so I am optimistic, too. If no one else cares about this, or no one else cares about this, sweet. But I'd bet at least one more BF.netter does.

I havent heard his new album yet either. Jay-Z is a hit/miss for me, I love some, others I hate, I dont think theres one song I think is "ok".

I have the album (I have every one) it has a few great songs and a couple hit or misses, like most of Jay's albums. If you are looking for a couple of songs check out songs

Jay-Z's Unplugged is still the high-point of that series, as far as I'm concerned. Phenomenal.

 

I haven't heard the new album yet, I think the last one he released that I bought was Blueprint 2. I thought it was quite lame, so I'll just stick with Reasonable Doubt, Vol. 2 - Hard Knock Life, The Blueprint, and the aforementioned Unplugged, because I think all of them are excellent.

Blueprint 2 really, really grew on me Brett. Give it a listen that one random time in the future when you want to listen to Jay, but kinda go, "meh..." to the other discs you own. In particular, "Poppin' Tags," "Meet the Parents," "Watcher 2," "Some People Hate," and the "U Don't Know" remix - but I love M.O.P., so keep that in mind.

 

I agree on the Unplugged mentions, too. Incredible. I loved the way he incorporated the live instruments (The Roots), and it's the main reason why I tuned in for Storytellers.
