  1. [ Yeah, just blame Al and ignore MassBrew ahead of him. I mean with so many good reasons to blame Al, you could have at least let this one pass. ] MB never said Serafini came up thru the Brewers system....
  2. I've removed DeJean and added Weeks. Conti was outrighted, so that's why he's not on the 40-man.

  4. [ I knew Dan was a former farmhand, but thought he came up through the system, or did you just list his last season, MB? ] Maybe you're thinking of catch Matt Serafini...
  5. 6:10 PM, CST TV: FSN Radio: WTMJ 620 And the beat goes on.... The Brewers try to make it 8 in a row against the Reds tonight. Doug Davis tries to claim a spot in the 2004 rotation as he tries to make it 3 quality starts in a row. Doug scattered 7 hits in his last outing vs. Philadelphia, and gave up 2 runs (1 earned) in 5.2 innings. Journeyman Dan Serafini makes his Cinci debut tonight. He hasn't pitched in the majors since the 2000 season with Pittsburgh and San Diego. Serafini was released by the St. Louis organization after posting a 9.00 ERA in 8 innings pitched for AAA Memphis. He then went to Monterrey of the Mexican League, and went 10-2 with a 1.59 ERA in 96.1 innings. 8. 6:10 PM, CST TV: WGCV-24 Radio: WTMJ 620 Your Milwaukee Brewers try for win #7 in a row tonight against the Cincinnati Reds who lost yesterday, but are 6-4 in their last 10 games. (The Brewers are 7-3 in their last 10). Matt Kinney is having a fine month, and is arguably coming off the best start of his career (8 IP, 9 H, 2 BB, 8K vs. Philadelphia). He's 0-1 with a 6.50 in 3 starts against the Reds this year. Former Athletic Aaron Harang who came over in the Jose Guillen deal has been marvelous during his stint in the NL so far. He's 3-0 with a 2.37 ERA with Cinci. He went 7 innings in has last start vs. Arizona, giving up only 4 hits, walking none, and fanning 6. 16. SportsTicker game preview: Pittsburgh (58-67) at Milwaukee (51-75) 8:05 pm EDT ---------------------------------------------------------------- MILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- The Milwaukee Brewers aim for a season high-tying fourth straight victory Friday when they begin a three-game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates at Miller Park. The Brewers, who won four in a row from June 1-6, swept Philadelphia with a 5-2 triumph on Thursday. Keith Ginter and Jason Conti homered for Milwaukee, which extended its home winning streak to a season-high four games. Lefthander Wayne Franklin (8-10, 5.39 ERA), who has lost four of his last five starts, gets the call for Milwaukee. Franklin was reached for three runs and nine hits in six innings in Sunday's 5-2 loss at Pittsburgh. He fell to 2-1 with a 5.09 ERA in 12 career outings against the Pirates and 1-3 with an 8.31 ERA in four starts this month. Franklin is 7-4 with a 5.04 ERA in night games. Pittsburgh lost at St. Louis on Thursday, 6-3, when Jim Edmonds smacked a three-run homer against Joe Beimel in the bottom of the ninth. Two pitches earlier, Jose Hernandez dropped a foul popup hit by Edmonds. Pirates righthander Kip Wells (5-6, 3.80) is 0-2 in his last three starts, allowing 11 runs and 22 hits in 20 innings. Wells did not receive a decision in his last start Saturday, when he allowed three runs and eight hits in seven innings against the Brewers. Wells is 5-3 with a 3.52 ERA in 10 career outings against Milwaukee, beating the Brewers three times last season.
  17. Wayne Franklin is mired in the worst month of his career, with an 8.31 ERA this month. He's giving up a ton of flyballs at this point, which doesn't bode well in miller park. Kip Wells is having a down month as well, with a 4.95 ERA. His last outing was decent, and he's fared well against the Brewers this season losing 2, but with a 3.80 ERA. 18. [ I was thinking more of Helms at third, Hall at short and Ginter at second. ] That would be downright practical. However, the Royce Clayton lovefest continues.
  19. Well, since we're picking nits in the first place, he'd be flying out of Columbus, OH, not Indy. Do we really feel the necessity to rush Helms back to Milwaukee so we can force Bill Hall out of the lineup?
  20. Well, considering he played in a night game last night in Indianapolis and would have to fly back to Milwaukee on a non-charter flight, I think that would be pushing it.... don't you?

  22. 1:05 CST start time for this one, if you're looking for some entertainment during your work day. Doug Davis tries to get his first win as a Brewer in his 2nd start of the year for the Crew. He had a decent outing and picked up a no decision against Pittsburgh, going 6 IP with 2 ER on 6 H. He walked 4, but struck out 5, pitching out of some jams. Vincente Padilla's last two starts have been rough, going less than 6 IP in each of them, and giving up no fewer than 4 runs in each. This is Padilla's first start against the Brewers this year, shutting out the Brewers in his only other career matchup. 24. I wonder if Parra was shut down for the season as a precautionary measure. You would think Beloit needs him for the playoffs.... Maybe he's just getting a rest. Big conrgrats to Martin. Maybe he can be next year's Mike Adams.
  25. When he was sent down, he was outrighted, so I think he got the hint.
