  1. Wes tries to improve a tough-luck 0-2 record this afternoon against the Braves. Day game, folks, so tune into to your radios/computer speakers. Brewerfan.net / StatFox matchup info: www.brewerfan.net/matchup.jsp Wes Obermueller Player Profile: www.brewerfan.net/ViewPla...ayerId=590
  2. Check out his stats... He seemed to really turn the corner last year when he got traded to Rockford. He cranked it up another notch this year and hasn't disappointed in Huntsville. He has decent stuff.... Gets it up around 90-92 mph and has a nasty slurve which has some bigtime movement on it. Because of his age, it'd be nice to see him move up to Indy in a hurry.
  3. Hmmm.... there was no pitcher listed for Friday's start against Charlotte. a) They usually list starters for the next two days b) Luis Martinez's turn in the rotation is Friday the plot thickens.
  4. [ Many argued that he shouldn't have even been expelled because as Robert pointed out he wasn't charge or convicted of any crime, they never seemed to get past the stage of allegations. ] Given the fact that he attended a parochial school, I don't think the "innocent until proven guilty" thing applies, which is a shame.
  5. This is from ESPN's primer: A player drafted onto a Major League roster in the Rule 5 draft must remain in the majors (on the 25-man active roster or the DL) for all of the subsequent season, or the drafting club must attempt to return him to his original club. However, since a returned Rule 5 player must first be placed on outright waivers, a third club could claim the player off waivers. But of course, that club would then also have to keep him in the majors all season, or offer him back to his original club No mention of how many days here, but ESPN's transaction primer gives rather incomplete info on options, so it's not gospel.
  6. The Bird is cool, but Dick Pole is cooler... http://www.brewerfan.net/images/other/dick.jpg
  7. [ im nearly positive that you cant just stash someone on the dl if he is rule fived.. ] http://pics.forecaster.ca/mlb-player/3839.gif
  8. Actually it'd be $350,000 as of this year. God bless the players union.
  9. It'll be interesting to see if Manning is outrighted or optioned. I still think you get a slight advantage from moving players to the 60-day DL that can be.... but it's really just academic, because in the long run, there's a 0.001% chance that it'll matter.
  10. JM's on the 40-man roster because there's no need to remove him from the 40-man roster.
  11. [ insert Mike Nicolas comment here ]
  12. Did Huntsville's rotation get reordered? Preceding each of Shelley's starts this year was Jeff Housman...
  13. Well, since moving Nick to the 60-day DL is a no-lose situation (he's already been on it retroactively 60 days), it seems to be the best move. Although i'm sure Cody McKay and JM Gold could safely be outrighted, if the need arose.
  14. WHOA.... I'm hearing it was a 2003 MLB contract. He better get his butt up to Milwaukee by 2006 or OUCH.
  15. Anyone hear if it's a 2004 contract?
  16. Luis Martinez with an imminent callup, and Rickie Weeks to sign tomorrw? Dare I be excited? I think I do.
  17. Sounds like Rickie is a done deal, gentlemen... BIG PROPS to Colbyjack for digging up the early scoop!
  18. Drew Olson on 1130 AM tonight to talk about Rickie Weeks contract status. Let the Drew Olson jabs ensue http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif
  19. Kat, I don't know what you're talking about. Ruben's had a history of pitching winter ball, and it hasn't affected him one bit.
  20. My two sources are: - Patrick's source - Some dude on the ESPN message board These, however, are tangible people... unlike the people in Toby's dreams http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Sleep... that's where i'm a viking.
  21. I would assume Melvin would go out and make SOME sort of acquisition (perhaps a flyer on a Todd Richie type) than stick with that rotation. I don't forsee Doug Davis in a Brewers uniform next year, but I could be wrong. You would think Sheets and Martinez (assuming he's called up) would be the only certainties in the rotation, with Franklin and Kinney as maybe's).
  22. A second source at the ESPN message board is confirming that the Brewers will have a press conference tomorrow announcing the signing of Rickie Weeks. Take it for what you will....
