  1. I just heard the Witrado interview, what a tool. He lists the Manny Parra incident as Fielder being "immature." Fielder approached Parra last season because he was bailing on the team. The team was mired in a losing streak last season. He was frustrated about Parra's lack of attention to the team. Parra was trying to leave the game early, after he got shelled, and Fielder told him to stay and watch. It seems very clear to what Witrado is trying to do here. He is taking advantage of being thrown into the spotlight by insulting Fielder publicly. When he was on ESPN, numerous times today, he basically said that Fielder needed to grow up. He made sure to include how "innapropriate" Fielder was in his language and conduct under the stadium. He is a bad writer and shows little professionalism while doing a bad job. Last year I had an internship with WISN Channel 12 sports in Milwaukee. I was fortunate enough to go to a number of media events with the Brewers. I saw Witrado and couldn't believe how he handled himself. I have seen him, on numerous occasions, wear Fubu to press conferences. He carries a mentality that he is a huge deal because he writes from the JS covering the Brewers. I just have one question to Witrado. What does he expect out of Fielder? I would have been upset too. I will be writing a blog post looking at everything Witrado did say. I am not trying to be a jerk to him, I just think that he handled this situation terribly. I think it is time for Witrado to go. He is a pessimistic writer that would attack anyone to better his career. I'll have the post up in the morning. brewcrewdaily.blogspot.com
  2. I don't consider everyone on here a bunch of geeks, I think you guys know whats going on. I wouldn't go on here if I didn't think you guys knew what you were talking about. I respect your opinions more than anyone else. I am just worried that I will not keep any interest.
  3. I completely agree that both the Cardinals and Phils made their teams better. The reason that the Cardinals were not listed was that I thought that they gave up too much in order to get Holliday. Holliday is a rent-a-player and will probably not be with the Cards next season (especially with how much he has risen his stock since the trade). For them to part will Brett Wallace, along with others, seems foolish to me. I was going to name the Phillies as a winner at the deadline. In my opinion, they put themselves as the favorite to repeat as WS champions. The only reason that they didn't make my top two was I honestly think the Pirates and Indians did a better job of helping the future of their franchise. The Phillies could have made the list for sure, but I only stopped at two teams. I cannot believe how much the Pirates have been blasted for the moves that they made. I don't think Neal Huntington was out of line by cited how bad this franchise has been in recent seasons before he got there. They needed to change something, and it is nice to see that they have a competent GM finally.
  4. No I think Parra was going just fine. Macha was right to leave him in. My heart just stopped by the way.
  5. No secret there. BA and Rock I think are very average. I think it has been tough for BA to follow Sutton and Matty Vas
  6. We have a greenman sighting. I just saw him in the gallery at the Buick Open cheering on Tiger. Here is the video
  7. Is it for sure that the Brewers won't sign Cameron? Is there any evidence to back that theory up? I was just wondering because I really like Cameron and would like to see him CF next season with a one year deal. He seems to like the Brewers.
  8. Well I was thinking more along the lines of bettering your ball club. I am not going to call the Phillies "losers" for acquiring Cliff Lee, although they gave up a lot of young talent. A "loser" of that level would be giving up Scott Kazmir for Victor Zambrano. I'm talking about trades that didn't make sense, either financially or talent wise.
  9. I was wondering who you guys thought had the worst deadline. I am hearing far too often that the Brewers had a horrible deadline in the media. I just wrote a blog post that depicted who I thought made poor decisions in July. Thanks. The link is below. http://brewcrewdaily.blogspot.com/
  10. I just posted my winners of the 2009 deadline. Let me know what you guys think. I will be posting the losers later today. Thanks.
  11. Thanks for all of the opinions. I am going to go run the blog with what you guys are asking for. I will use much of the information that was presented on here and post different things than what you are able to find yourself. I would like to mention major Brewers front office news as well. I will not stop at reporting what I hear, but interpret what I read and form new ideas that are not presented in the earlier article. Thanks for all of your help everyone. Journalism is a difficult field to get going in and I think something like this will really improve my chances.
  12. Well this is not good news. We are at a time in the season where making up games is possible.
  13. I remember four or five years ago a Brewers comeback victory. I was so excited to see the highlights of what I had just watched show up on ESPN. I watched the entire show. Just as they were signing off, the anchor says "oh yeah, the Brewers defeated the Reds tonight." No highlights.
  14. I was hoping you were going to be right. I think SportsCenter will still have to show it considering both teams have combined for four... make it five hits.
  15. Does anybody want to get a quick 9 holes of golf in before the top of the 7th?
  16. It only took one second for that ball to hit the gap. Wow was that ripped.
  17. I understand that Gerut has struggled thus far as a Brewers, but why do so many people hate him? He is a solid centerfielder that could possibly start for us next season. Other than this year, Gerut has been an above average center fielder throughout his career. He actually hits for some power, takes walks, and plays good defense. I just cringe every time I am at Miller Park and someone says "I can't believe we traded Tony Gwynn Jr for this guy." TGJ has no business getting consistent AB's in the majors. Gerut surely has struggled, but it is not easy to get two AB's a week off the bench.
  18. I just posted a column where I discussed what Melvin could have done differently. Seeing as there is a gigantic thread on a Melvin firing, I am interested in what could have been done differently. I am looking forward to your comments. Also, I am interested in what you guys are looking for in a blog. I understand now that you are not looking for something that just states what others have already said. My favorite writer is Joe Posnanski, who writes for the Royals. I would like to model a Brewers' blog that is similar to that in some way.
