  1. If you asked me the question of who is more valuable, I of course would say Escobar. The argument that am making is that with Escobar being more valuable, would some people rather trade him than Hardy? It is really tough to say what we are going to get for either player. Until that is really known, it is an interesting question to answer. What do you guys expect to get by trading Hardy, or Escobar.
  2. All I hear is how much better defensively Escobar is than Hardy. He has been below average defensively this season at the major league, although not a huge sample size. Hardy is a great defender and I think that gets over looked.
  3. Obviously, but is the stolen base really worth the risk in front of Braun/Fielder.
  4. Don't get me wrong, I completely understand why many want to keep Escobar. He has much more value because he doesn't hit FA for a long time. That is also going to be very attractive to other teams. Why not just see what they can get for either player before setting it in stone that they are going to trade Hardy? If we got the same player in return, Escobar is obviously the better choice for the Brewers to keep financially. I just think that if we are going to hang onto Fielder, there is a two year window to get this thing done. If they are willing to trade Prince, trading Hardy makes more sense. If they are going to keep him and take the draft picks, trading Escobar seems to make more sense to me.
  5. My impression on Escobar seems to be that of many on this board. Everyone really hopes that he is as good as everyone says he is, but we really don't see it. I guess I can't get overly excited about a guy who doesn't walk and has never posted an OPS over .800. I really think Hardy is a great player who has had a terrible season. I expect him to rebound nicely in 2010. Could Escobar magically develop power like Hanley Ramirez did, sure, but I don't think that we should give up on Hardy for a marginal player.
  6. I just posted on my blog on why I think trading Escobar, although against the norm, would be a good option. What do you guys think? Hardy for 2 years/$~8 million and a good starter, or five cheap years of Escobar and a lesser pitcher in return. Here is a link to the blog.
  7. Yeah that was fun. I think that is what makes this year so disappointing. Having tasted success I want more.
  8. I know the game doesn't matter, so why do I get worked up?
  9. Just kidding. Is anybody here tonight, or did most give up on this game due to the weather delay.
  10. Ilovebeer, It sounds like you started drinking early tonight.
  11. Fischer really needs to stop waiving people around with no outs
  12. Corporan's hit was off of Reds SS Paul Janish. I remember Fielder crushing a home run later that inning.
  13. "Hall is only on the books for one mroe year and Igawa is terrible. Why trade one year of crap for two years of crap when you can get rid of all the crap and save some money to boot?" Would you rather take the trade that we got? I never said that Igawa was on the table, but it would've made sense. I would much rather take a chance on Igawa than what we got. Igawa is owed $9 million over the next 2+ seasons, which essentially cancels out Hall's contract next season and gives us another free season. Igawa has been terrible in the majors, but his minor league numbers have been solid. To me, it would have been a much better return.
  14. I wasn't saying that there was confirmation on Igawa. I was just thinking that Igawa has no future in NY. He will not break that rotation. So essentially, Igawa has no value to the Yankees and is owed $9 million over the next two years. I was just saying that I think a trade like that made sense for both teams.
  15. Seeing this deal, I would've gladly traded Hall for Kei Igawa.
  16. It just seems that the Cardinals don't lose. They just won on a walk off HR off Heath Bell when they were trailing 5-4 going into the ninth.
  17. I wrote an article on this in my blog. Here is a link to it. Thanks guys http://brewcrewdaily.blogspot.com/2009/08/what-should-melvin-have-done.html
  18. Great post. Do anybody really think that Melvin was horrible this offseason. I mean, really, what could he have done differently/better? Nobody thought that Looper was going to be this ineffective.
  19. Please don't tell me you are one of those guys that complains when a major leaguer doesn't use two hands. You're right, i would rather see them miss/drop routine pop-ups than use two hands. How many people in the major leagues actually use two hands to catch the ball? I'm frustrated with this team too, but to say that he was trying to "look cool" is just nit picking.
  20. They are his friends, maybe he will give them a cut of the bonuses he will receive for games finished.
  21. Am I the only one that is really impressed with the talent the Padres have in their bullpen?
  22. Please don't tell me you are one of those guys that complains when a major leaguer doesn't use two hands.
  23. I am a senior who is looking to get into the Journalism field. I can understand what Old School is saying about some of the problems related to pay. I fully expect to make little money when I get out of school. The problem I have with your posts is listed how horrible TH and AW jobs are. If you are going to point out a bad job in the journalism field, talk about the person who doesn't make it. Talk about the guy who makes 30K covering Podunkville sports. But please, don't tell me how bad Tom H has it. Writing for the Brewers would be an absolute dream job for me. I know I am only 21, but I know that I would never retract that statement. I know what I am getting into. I know it's a tough market with low pay a lot of the time. To be in Tom H's situation would be amazing. I would love to make that "sacrifice."
  24. Well, Kendall's name is always in the lineup and I hate him. All kidding aside, I think everyone knows Escobar will be a good defender. Hitter? That's the debate.
