  1. We are only competitive with pitching...sacrifice prospects if needed...we need pitching....get Grienke!
  2. I'd call too...what do we have to lose...for less prospects they might be willing to roll the dice with resigning Prince.
  3. If I could get Garza and a high end prospect from teh Rays I would pay most of Prince's contract. Not because I want to unload him, but because we need pitching THAT BAD!
  4. Here is my deal with Melvin and the Prince situation....This appears from an outside perspective....to be a continuation of a GM who doesn't manage his assets well. DM has been a disaster in signing FA's who are not veterans on their last leg or guys who have been discarded by their previous teams - That actually seems to be his strength. His major signings of outside guys have been failures. His HC selections have been Yost...ok...Sveum...undecided...Macha....complete disaster...Roenicke...optimistic. His trades have been ok....nothing great - outside the half year rental of Sabathia. The starting lineup has primarily guys we drafted....many before he came on board. Prince lost considerable value after the trade deadline and likely will only recoup a portion of that as the next ones nears (praying someone gets desperate). People can bag on Daniel Hudson, but he appears to be better than anything we will get in return and have a significant chance of being better than the two draft picks we could get if Prince walks. Besides those two vaunted draft picks won't help us for years to come....who where those draft picks from Sabathia....are they on our team yet? I apologize for being cranky, but for the last 25 years this organization has been a frustration. I thought we turned the corner a couple of years ago, but now I see us right back in the track of mediocrity. Whose fault is it? I don't know.....I'm just tired of following franchises with more excuses than options or solutions. OH Yeah....I forgot....The chances of us not losing on a Prince trade is small....in most trades where the team trades the best player in the deal...they lose....big surprise.
  5. I think we would have to trade for him....I have no problem with that...if reasonable.
  6. I agree....you don't trade pitching prospects for infielders no better than what you have. I could see expanding the deal to include another pitcher.
  7. Want to trade....probably not....need to....yes.
  8. Either for Prince would work for me.
  9. One year deals are all I am interested in for FA pitchers. We need to develop our own or trade for them. If we sign Weeks to an extension, I'd use Lawrie as bait. I would love to see us get a Garza or Floyd type....younger talent with controlling years. It is unfortunate we didn't deal Prince at the deadline...if any of those possible deals were legit.
  10. Truth is...he has little value....We may have held the cards too long.
  11. If we can sign Weeks to sign an extension....make the deal...whatever it takes.
  12. I would want a prospect as well. Maybe we can sweeten with Parra and get a high ceiling minor leaguer.
  13. I like Pavano....but he will be signed for a contract longer than we should offer.
  14. So is he saying Gammons is making it up?
  15. If a team is willing to overpay...yes...I'll agree with you. No one should ever be untouchable...I just don't see anyone overpaying enough for Braun...To me it would take an established #2 starter along with a AA or AAA guy who has #1 or #2 potential. Heck if Tampa offered Garza and Hellickson....I'd have to think long and hard.
  16. I just don't see any way that trading Braun makes the team better on the field or financially. Makes no sense to me. I'd much prefer trading Weeks if we are going to deal a core player other than Prince. If Prince was signed longterm....maybe...but that just is not happening.
  17. I want Overbay back.....OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO:)
  18. I fear that our return will be less than what was offered at the deadline...if that is the case do you keep him? Boston appears out with them picking up Ortiz's contract option. Texas, White Sox, Seattle, and Detroit seem to be the only Viable options.
  19. Here is something that I stumbled upon regarding Valentine. http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/10/30/bobby-valentine-likely-to-become-brewers-next-manager/
  20. I'd like a guy with National League Managerial experience....I just think the nuances are different enough to warrant it.
  21. I don't see why anyone would want Parra??? IMHO he pitches like he has no killer instinct. It's Kill or be killed.
  22. I still think Detroit will be the landing spot for Prince...Why??? Don't know....just a gut feeling. I also thing CWS, Texas and Seattle are the next most logical.
  23. I like Bob Melvin...Sveum.....and Money in that order. If Melvin and Kremblas didn't have some supposed issues....I'd throw him in there as well.
  24. I like Melvin, but I am still confused on why Sveum is not a candidate. I don't care for Randolph. This team needs to have fun again....Randolph seems tight and stiff. I might be totally wrong with that, but it is my perception. Sandberg???Nah. Melvin, Money, or Sveum are my personal favorites right now
