  1. Forget JJ...we would end up overpaying for him. Jack Wilson might be an easier get.
  2. the old adage to build strong up the middle is still a truism. Unfortunately we have become weak up the middle. Weeks is solid....not spectacular...defensively. SS...God help us...CF...ok...Catcher...ok. I like our pitching staff, but we are below average at 3b, ss, and cf......
  3. There has to be an upgrade out there somewhere. Even if it is a major league ready guy in the minors.
  4. I sell it....but only to the player, team, or MLB. Getting Jersys and stuff is awesome, but when the IRS comes calling I might not have the money to cover it. Hopefully Jeter and the Yankees pay the IRS bill for the kid.
  5. How much money did Casey lose by not signing a longterm deal last year when Melvin wanted to lock him up?
  6. I would ABSOLUTELY try to extend him now....his asking price never will be lower. I am convinced that his up and down year has everything to do with the awkward start to the year. It is amazing how a wierd or abreviate spring often has lasting effect (for the year) on the the player. He is still a cornerstone pitcher.
  7. I want to trade him from the standpoint of getting a return. I would only trade him for a star in return. Otherwise just take the picks and build around pitching. If we could get Reyes....with an extent ion...I would do it.
  8. Forget it...not happening. Boras says he will get Prince more than Puhols....he is long gone....hello picks.
  9. I don't see Marcum or Grienke extending until after the season....but could be wrong. I also don't think Gamel has a future in MKE... I might be wrong but he seems to have Billy Jo Robideaux written all over him.
  10. Maybe he should have signed before we allocated our $ elsewhere. I have to believe there is little or no chance we even have additional talks with him and Boras. Braun initiated the discussions and Prince would need to do the same thing....even at that I would say its less than 50/50 it would go anywhere. Grienke and Marcum have become higher priorities...IMHO.
  11. I like Prince and would like him to remain in Milwaukee. That said... 1. I would make one more run at signing him before July. 2. If it is apparent that he is gone....I start shopping him for a young SS (prospect or Major Leaguer) and LH 1baseman or LH Outfielder. 3. My reasoning for the possibility of a LH OF is the possibility of Braun playing 1B. He is an obvious butcher in LF, and has played some ss and 3b in the minors and college. So the fielding at 1b shouldn't be too difficult. 4. Keep Prince Out of the Cubs mitts 5. If no options avail themselves....suck it up...unfortunately ... and let him walk. I don't care if the Brewers are in the hunt or whatever...trading a player of the caliber of Prince is more valuable than the pick....in most cases.
  12. I would love to resign Weeks....but Greinke is waayyyyyyy more valuable. I have a feeling we could deal Weeks and get younger and an equal on defense. Offensively, Rickie has been very good when healthy. We would likely take a step back there.
  13. I'll bet it is the Cubs
  14. I think we need to go young in cf with the best defensive guy we have. I am a little concerned about Bentacourts defense. With the pitching we now have, we can jeopardize little offense for rock solid defense.
  15. I will be very disappointed if they are not extended. You don't strip your farm system for two year players. At their ages...we need them to be the core along with Yogo. The fact that Grienke has the same agent as Braun and Hart lends me to believe we feel something can get done there.
  16. Is Gamel really a 3rd baseman?
  17. I would be ticked if this move wasn't made to keep both of these guys along with Yogo long term....pitching will always give us a chance.
  18. I think this totally seals that Prince will not be a Brewer after this year. Our money will be going to Marcum and Grienke. I am all for it! Additionally, if Prince was to be dealt, I would guess it would be for prospects....however I'm not sure how you can do that now. It seems like you have to go for it NOW! Shocked and excited that we are getting Grienke!
  19. I see it as only possible if Prince gets dealt. Not sure I would be that interested in both.
  20. I would struggle giving up Lucroy.....but....I'd offer Cain instead
  21. For me...AB's for Gamel has zero value in a Prince trade. I am not a Gamel guy....not at all.
  22. Ace vs #2 or #3 money and talent. with YoGo...I am ok with Garza
  23. Baltimore seems to be the new "hot" player in this...even though "hot" is slightly warmer than room temperature. I am in favor of dealing Prince for prospects if we can use ours for Garza or Greinke. I have no problem rolling the dice a bit with prospects for an established pitcher...so many prospects flame out...trade for young players when possible.
  24. I sign him if there is a chance to deal Prince...I think he is a perfect short term guy there.
