  1. If Torres is off limits, so is Hader....iMHO
  2. Wouldn't Urias go to 3rd in this scenario and Arcia Dealt?
  3. If Cron is non-tendered by MN...do the Brewers get interested with him? I still think THames returning seems like a better plan...if at a decent $
  4. I will try to be reasonable. Resign Moose to a 2-3 year deal and stop this 1 year BS. (Cut Shaw) Keep Thames Catcher - Roll with Pina and try to sign a vet. Maybe Lucroy or trade for someone. Pitchers - Try to sign two starters...one minimum. Wouldn't mind bringing Miley back, but I wonder if his price is too high now to be a value. Sign two from this list...Miley, Gibson, Wheeler, Pineda (Risk with PEDS), and maybe Lyles Sure, I would like one of the big $ guys, but trying to be realistic. Relievers - Pomeranz or Will Smith would be nice adds. Beyond that...I trust the Brewers FO to find power arms. I'd like to See Gamel and Braun get lots of work at 1B as well...Just to see if they can fill for Thames as needed. I'd like to see the majority of $ spent on Pitching and hope that this is Arcia's year to be good again.
  5. Would a Gio signing on a 1 year deal be bad at this point? It just feels like we could use a LH arm that can be a starter or Long reliever.
  6. Screw the Mets....If they want to give us Flores...maybe...Ice Bucket challenge boy! Just saw that KROD was claimed and pulled back....no trade.
  7. Put me down for Girsch from STL. Below is an excerpt from Baseball prospectus in 2014 Candidate: Michael Girsch Current role: Assistant General Manager (Cardinals) Skill set: Girsch will get looks because of the Cardinals’ run of success, but the 37-year-old AGM with an MBA has the goods to back it up. He's run the Cardinals Baseball Development division, which oversees the team's impressive data management and analytics efforts. For as much coverage as "The Cardinal Way" got as a magic book of sorcerer's spells, the reality is that it's a boring technical manual on player development, but one that starts with the question "What do we know about what actually works?" In the front office, where understanding the process is key, Girsch's background fits beautifully with what's expected of the new breed of GM.
  8. I'd like to keep him. What MA needs to determine is who will replace Melvin and how much $ he will allocate for him to spend in FA. This team will have a bunch of cash. Can they make some solid deals that allow the team to remain competative while some of the youngsters develop? They almost have no choice due to the Braun deal.
  9. It certainly seems odd that there are so few 1B's out there and available. I'd try to find a 3B and Move Aramis to 1st.
  10. Lots of Arms but lots of crappy arms. The Sanchez Brothers and Edwin Jackson might be decent fits. Carlos Villeneueva wouldn't be a horrible addition to the bullpen.
  11. I only trade Hart if i think Aoki and Gamel will man the positions that he plays. Otherwise I keep him. I like him better as a 1b than an OF.
  12. If we keep Hart.....I think we need to look for a solid Stater in the offseason. I dont know who will be available, but it seems like there always is someone. If you have Braun, Weeks, Lucroy, Aram, and Hart you better find some pitching to go with Gallardo. Losing the contracts of Grienke, Wolf, Krod, and Marcum should free us enough cash to get one or two middle of the rotation guys. Maybe Marcum comes back on a 1 year deal, but there still is enough to add one. Will the team be favored to win the Central? No, but anything can happen if Marcum would have a healthy year, Filers can continue to pitch well, and Peralta/Thornberg can be a 5th starter. Add Narveson to the pen and go from there. If Gamel can heal well enough to play 1b or OF we have another bat. Although we lost Grienke, this team does have enough talent that we should reload....not rebuild.
  13. I don't like trading guys away and i dont like losing guys in FA. However, that is life as a MLB club not in a major Market. I think we did just fine in our return for Zach. It's unfortunate we couldn't keep him. Would I do it all over again if given the chance? I don't know....CC, Marcum, and Zach really toasted our minors...yet none of those we traded have become anything special...yet. Lawrie and Escobar are close.
  14. Hellweg - Typically, a pitcher moves from the rotation to the bullpen and takes off. For Hellweg, it was just the opposite. The tall, lanky right-hander had put up good strikeout rates as a reliever, but had really struggled throwing strikes consistently. When he was really scuffling in 2011 out of the bullpen, he moved into a starting role and posted a 2.12 ERA in 14 starts. He still got more than enough swings and misses with his plus fastball and good breaking stuff. If the changeup improves along with his command, he has the makings of a frontline starter.
  15. Those are the ones...3 Top 15 prospects...Its about as good as we were going to do.
  16. I have come full circle on this. Trade ARam and Grienke....keep Braun, Lucroy, Gallardo, and Weeks. Be open to dealing Hart for the right deal, but have to admit I like him as a 1stbaseman. Deal KRod, Wolf, any reliever...maybe not Axford. If someone offers us some value for Marcum, consider it, but not opposed to keeping him. Eliminate as much salry as possible to then sign mid level FA's next offseason. Stay competative until the young Arms Come up. We obviously need talant at every position other than Catcher and LF....so get the best talent possible.
  17. You can be competative with solid pitching. I'd roll with Gamel at 1st, Green at 3rd, and Scooter at 2nd if need be.
  18. After looking at those salaries...I'd totally try to deal ARAM, Hart, and Weeks. They are all making rediculous amounts compared to production. ARAM is fine now, but in two years he is crazy. Send him to LA for little or nothing....And I was an ardent supporter of keeping him. I didn't realize it was so back loaded.
  19. I would be perfectly fine resigning Grienke and trading ARAM and consider moving Hart or Weeks.
  20. More and more I get the idea that he is staying.
  21. If we don't sign Grienke, I am right there with you. We have raped our farm system for CC, Grienke, and Marcum. It did get us to the playoffs twice, but it destroyed our minor league system. Tell me Escobar and Lawrie on the left side of the infield wouldn't look good right now. If we can't afford to resign guys we trade for, we can't afford to play that game. If we need to be a draft and develop team, so be it. I won't like it, but could at least understand it.
  22. what was Cain's deal? I'd match it. You don't give up what we gave up fro a guy to go Chicken when its time to resign him. If we trade him, tell me what has changed since the Greg Vaughn days? (I know I'm overreacting, but I am sick of trading away talent).
  23. That is exactly my issue as well. If we are willing to offer 5/100 now...I would hope we would be willing to go a little higher later. I say keep him and see what can happen. I hate being sellers unless we are old...we are not...say the course.
  24. I understand the angst with potentially losing Greinke...so potentially trading him makes some sense. However I am concerned that some want to trade other assets that remain in our control and are performing...Like ARam. This team should not be looking to rebuild, but rather reload. It has been a difficult year in terms of Injuries, but the team has enough pieces to compete this year and in the future. Therefore, I would be fine with letting the Greinke thing play out. If a team is willing to give us Major league ready talent at SS and a Pitcher...then I consider it. Otherwise let Grienke go to FA and try like heck to sign him. Losing KRod, Wolf, and Marcum off the salary should provide room to sign him or another pitcher in FA. I just don't think it makes sense to trade Grienke for prospects that are questionable or 2+ years from the Majors. Wolf and KRod I would. Marcum...I might...depends what type of FA he will be.
  25. If Hart is willing to continue to play 1B...I want us to keep him...We need a left handed bat in this lineup. A corner OF player might....note might...be easier to get.
