  1. That is my fear as well. There are many owners who are far worse that Mark A. - - I am hoping he keeps the Brewers.
  2. I wonder if that time has come. Mark has been a very good owner....I fear who his replacement might be someday. Mark Cuban would be fun....just don't see him having interest in a team from MKE. Doesn't seem his style.
  3. Tampa has the Pitching prospects we want....to bad they likely won't want Prince.
  4. Best player on the team....You will never get return for him. If you look back on trades made, seldom does the team trading the best player in the deal "win" When we deal Prince....we will "lose" in the deal most likely because he will be the best player. if we get 3 or 4 prospects, likely 2 will flame out and one will be a contributor. If lightning strikes in a bottle, we might end up with a stud down the road. Obviously there are a number of trades that worked out well for both clubs, but 75% turn out as stated above.
  5. Well....it depends....If I am the Brewers, he isn't as desirable as he would be if I was a large market team like the Rangers, Giants, Red Sox, Mets, White Sox, or Mariners. For those teams the likelihood of resigning him is far greater. That said....If I was Melvin, I would trade Weeks, Jeffress, and maybe Parra. Prince is a difference making player...those three likely are not.
  6. What I like about this deal is it indicates we are not in tear down mode. It is a solid deal for all parties. If He maintains his level of play its a great deal for the Brewers. I like signing Weeks to a contract as well. What this also assures...Prince is gone...now its just a mtter what we can get for him.
  7. I think CWS can do a Prince deal that doesn't ionvolve Beckham...at least in my opinion. It just means that the second arm after Hudson has to be better. I'd take the 1b prospect, Hudson, and a high end minor league arm....or two. I don't think Beckham is the ultimate esencial piece, but CWS have to kick in more and higher quality. Saying that...I still think its Dunn.
  8. Boston seems to me to be a location that makes sense for Prince....or Texas once the sale is over. Boston has to decide if they want to keep big Papi or go a different direction.
  9. I'm a little disappointed, but in the end if you can't get value in return, you are better to stand pat...I thinkhttp://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  10. two games....will it really make a difference???Will Macha still be the manager???Then probably not.
  11. 4/32....WOW...this is the first year he has been healthy (so far). It might take that much, but I wouldn't give it to him until at least next year.
  12. I would prefer to keep Hart and Fielder if we don't get quality starters in return. FA stinks for pitchers unless you get the cream of the crop. Those guys are not coming to MKE. we need to trade for up and coming guys or sign vet gambles like the Loopers of the world. The studs will only come via trade (not real likely) or the draft (far more likely, but painfully slow). Matt Garza would look better today in exchange for Price or Hart, would't he?? Other than Gallardo, is there anyone on our staff that has anything near that possibility?
  13. Edmonds is exactly the type of player you want to keep. A professional who can help some of the young guys and emerging ones. he's been there before and can help the young players who haven't. I see no reason to deal him...unless that ios what is required to get a solid deal done for Prince....even hough I don't think we should trade either of them.
  14. I don't think we will ever get solid value for Prince....I am starting to believe that we should continue to work hard at signing him longterm. I now feel like (I know I probably am crazy) that we could or should go to 5-125 for him....if he turns than down....then I might change my mind. I think his bat and attitude along with Braun, can and should be the longterm building blocks.
  15. I would go 5 - 125 for the Brewers. I am sick of the carosel of players....Build on Fielder and Braun and go from there. I was in the camp of trade Prince, I now feel like we should do everything to keep him. Hart can be moved IMHO.
  16. I know we lose Hall and Suppan contracts. Who else is a FA or a bad contract we lose? Hawkins? Hoffman? Fielder....if kept might get ? Hart ...if kept might get? Who else is Arby eligible that could have big jumps? Weeks? McGhee? Gallardo and Braun get typical bumps as well. My greater question is, what will be our projected net available cash if the above happens? If this is laid out somewhere else please just direct me there....I thought I saw it somewhere.
  17. I know I am probably in the minority, but I'd do a a Beckham, Hudson deal and be pretty happy about it. Move Beckham to 3b, Macghee to 1b
  18. Olney gives us the reason that it makes sense to move both for pitching if possible. Position players seem a bit easier to find. I think Weeks could be a corner outfielder if we can find a better defensive option at 2nd. It also seems like Lawrie might be ready...shortly. One question though...will we be totally righthanded at the plate?
  19. Bush along with Prince was my thought as well. Do the Rays want Prince or Hart or Both?
  20. I would tale Loney in a Heartbeat
  21. I agree that power is the main component for 1b, but with our defensive woes, I would have to believe that a betetr defensive 1b would be a benefit.
  22. What does SanDiego have that would interest us?
  23. My issue with Prince has always been his defense....he is better than he was, but his length will always be somewhat a limiting factor.
  24. But are there not reports that the Brewers are having the same difficulty with his agent as they are with Boras? I'd be okay with Moving Hart to 1b, Weeks to RF and bringing up Lawrie to play 2b.
