  1. I'm working my way through the 1967 show "The Prisoner." It was remade recently into a miniseries but I haven't seen that. I really like the show. Definitely quirky and the writing is great. It looks mod, but still holds up today.
  2. Yea, great episode. I wonder who is the mother of Jack's son. I'm guessing since they didn't mention it, it might be someone we already know.
  3. I thought it would be fun to have a place to post pictures. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif http://cache.daylife.com/imageserve/03gFdiV3D0cvS/x610.jpg http://cache.daylife.com/imageserve/0ghrfJacJ94Ga/x610.jpg http://cache.daylife.com/imageserve/00YQczi6g4ftb/610x.jpg http://cache.daylife.com/imageserve/03gvfcNa1H6LK/x610.jpg http://cache.daylife.com/imageserve/0e2abtZgVDeL9/610x.jpg http://cache.daylife.com/imageserve/04ff86A9iJ4WT/x610.jpg http://cache.daylife.com/imageserve/0bTn6Uf3AG7Q0/x610.jpg http://cache.daylife.com/imageserve/00uYdHc8iRcK2/610x.jpg http://cache.daylife.com/imageserve/0bVb3Tf5tx6Ra/x610.jpg http://cache.daylife.com/imageserve/0aYJ08y2XWa8a/610x.jpg http://cache.daylife.com/imageserve/01GreBV8wF6cj/x610.jpg http://cache.daylife.com/imageserve/064p8draXkdFi/x610.jpg
  4. I want pictures!
  5. I'm a Yankees fan and I have never booed someone on the team. I've cursed and put my head in my hands (Knoblauch, Abreu and walls) but I just can't understand booing your own team. These are professional athletes, they know when they're underperforming, so to me booing seems a misdirection of anger.
  6. I love the Soup, love Michael Emmerson. http://www.sl-lost.com/2010/02/12/video-michael-emerson-visits-the-soup
  7. The deal's 5 years, $80MM. Good for the Tigers. Link
  8. Am I the only one that when reading this thread title thinks: http://www.thegregbradyproject.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/seinfeld-stand-up.JPG "What's the deal with Corey Hart?"?
  9. I love this show. I think this episode raised more questions that any other one. I was also so glad to see Desmond, and if they work Daniel Faraday back in I will be all smiles. I think they will, but you never know.
  10. I loved Up and Avatar was a visually-amazing, fun experience but my vote for best would be District 9. I'm really rooting for it, but I don't think it has a chance. I haven't seen the Hurt Locker yet, but I just don't think I'd love it more than D9.
  11. Yeah for Yankees Red Sox opening night on ESPN! http://i48.tinypic.com/n50wi0.gif
  12. Adding Gomez was definitely Melvin gambling that he'll progress.
  13. I didn't see this posted yet, but the Kimmel-Ken Burns documentary was great.
  14. Did anyone else see Leno interview Kimmel tonight? It was both awkward and amazing at the same time. I have no idea why Jay thought this would turn out well, if there is one thing I like about Jimmy Kimmel, it is that he is never afraid to speak his mind. Kimmel to Jay : "Listen, Jay, Conan and I have children-all you have to take care of is cars. I mean, we have lives to lead here. You've got $800 million, for God's sakes-leave our shows alone." Leno also asked Kimmy what his favorite prank he pulled was Jimmy replied: "The best prank I ever pulled was I told a guy that-five years from now-I'm gonna give you my show. And then when the five years came, I gave it to him, and then I took it back almost instantly." If anyone is interested, it's the second video: http://tv.gawker.com/5448...en-with-biting-monologue ETA: If anyone watched Conan tonight, you heard him mention his craigslist ad. Here it is: http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv/clt/1551463643.html
  15. I like how he addressed the letter to "People of the Earth"
  16. I think he's in denial. It's ridiculous to believe it didn't help him hit homers, but I can't seem to get too worked up over how he rationalizes his use. Still I hold out hope that someone will be open and honest about steroids, and not 30 years from now.
  17. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif To me, Martinez is a definite for the Hall. But looking at this thread, of the 15 or so who voted, only 5 mentioned him. Why? Is it because he wasn't a regular until his late twenties? Unfortunately I just think it's because some hold DHs to a different standard. Either you're a great baseball player or you're not, and Martinez deserves to be honored. BTW, I vote no on Mattingly and I'm a Yankees fan.
  18. From what I've read about his command and secondary pitches, I would be surprised if Chapman pitched in the majors next year. Even though he has a great upside, I don't think the Brewers should spend the money he's supposedly asking for on him.
  19. Edgar Martinez should be in Cooperstown, but I wonder if a full-time DH will ever get voted in.
  20. MJLiverock, your last post makes me question whether I should have even started this thread. I really like Braun as a player, and I can understand how constant criticism (valid or not) can be frustrating, but I was just trying to have some fun. I'm also a big Yankees fan, but should I not make fun of Jeter's corny cologne commercials (holy alliteration!) because he's captain and receives a huge amount of criticism about his defense? I'm sorry it didn't come across that way in my first post, but I was not criticizing his baseball abilities or his personality, and I do support any player ventures. All I wanted to do was share this information (Braun has his own line) and just laugh about it. If anyone should be offended, it's the people who actually like the look. Brewers are tied for 1st, and sure as baseball geeks we'd always like to make tweaks, but times are good and I guess I'm just taken aback by the defensiveness. Now, let's just have fun. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  21. I hid under your porch because I love you.
  22. Yeah I don't get it either. It's getting to the point where anything Braun does is criticized and bemoaned for being unclassy or questionable. I have never seen such a good player questioned so much by his hometown fans, especially one who has had no obvious triggers like contract disputes or law breaking. Dude, I was just trying to have some fun! In no way do I think Braun's awful fashion sense actually says anything about him as a person. I just wanted to snark and wrote "questionable behavior" to point out that I do not approve the look. People who dress like that make my soul cry, BUT that does not mean I don't like him as a player or even a person. If something so minor off the field keeps me from rooting for a player on my team, then I need to take a break from baseball.
  23. I'm not sure if this thread belongs in Off-Topic, but THIS needs to be addressed. I did a search, and only came up with a comment from a couple months ago. Braun started his own line with someone from Affliction. I probably would never talk to a guy who wore an Affliction shirt, but THIS is just beyond words. Questionable behavior Mr. Braun. And to see cuties Hardy and Sizemore dressed like fools just breaks my heart. Yes, I know I'm being girly right now and generally couldn't care less what players do off the field (I do heart Alex Rodriguez after all), but this hilarity is just too much to pass up.
  24. My boyfriend and I just got back from seeing Up. The best word I can use to describe it is magical. Simply amazing. I keep waiting for Pixar to slip up (maybe that was Cars?) but they did it again. It might be their best one, and I LOVED Finding Nemo and WALL-E. It was smart, touching, funny and just made me giddy afterwards. I feel like a kid and I just want to share it with everyone (even the guy who checked me out at Trader Joes). I will admit I cried like a baby twice. It reminds me how much I hate when people will shy away from a film because it's annimated or billed as a kid's movie. And the animation was fantastic. At one point, it was as if I was watching a live-action film. Anyway, everyone go out and see it. If you don't like it, then you must not have a soul. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Anyone else see it?
  25. Brewers Reliever Hits the Ground Running By Jack Curry Todd Coffey of the Milwaukee Brewers might have the coolest entrance of any middle reliever in baseball. While closers enter games to specific music, Coffey has created his own fashionable entrance by sprinting from the bullpen to the mound. Coffey does not run casually. He hustles from the time his foot touches the warning track to the time he reaches the dirt on the mound. He is 6 foot 4 and weighs 241 pounds, so he resembles a fullback who stumbled upon a baseball field instead of a football field. The scoreboard operators at Miller Park have added a wrinkle to Coffey's run by timing it. Even though the Brewers were trailing by six runs when Coffey was summoned to face the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday night, the fans roared as if Trevor Hoffman were coming in for a save. Coffey completed his run in 13.53 seconds. "That's my fastest time at this park," Coffey said. Coffey first sprinted in from the bullpen when he was with the Cincinnati Reds' Class AA Chattanooga affiliate in 2004. Chattanooga had scored seven runs in the top of the eighth inning to snatch the lead. Coffey was so excited about the rally that he bolted out of the bullpen. "I liked the way it felt," he said. "I liked the spike of adrenaline. My legs felt good. I just decided to keep doing it." There was one time where Coffey's enthusiasm created an awkward situation. He ran in from the bullpen at Wrigley Field, which is in foul territory down the right-field line and is closer than bullpens that are behind the outfield fence. Coffey got there so fast that the starting pitcher had not yet left the mound. Since the incident at Wrigley last season, Coffey has tried to time his entrance better. Still, when he entered the game as part of a double-switch involving the catcher on Wednesday, he arrived on the mound before the new catcher was behind the plate and had to wait to warm up. But that blip will not slow Coffey down. "I'm always going to do it, as long as I have legs," Coffey said. http://bats.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/05/27/brewers-reliever-hits-the-ground-running/
