  1. GormanHarvey, we need to get you to just rent a suite at Huntsville or something. I mean like as your living arrangements. But seriously, your updates have been great... keep 'em coming!
  2. It's obviously because Burgos has just been that good this season, duhhhh
  3. Man, if I tracked the Stars in the Link Report maybe I'd know something like that... Still last, but at least they've improved. Jackson & Huntsville definitely aren't doing something right, though.
  4. http://28.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lan74nexoW1qc8pm4o1_500.jpg It's completely unacceptable that I couldn't find this in animated .gif form. *Lights up the dlk9s-symbol*
  5. I think you're right, overall SRB. And if it came down to not having a spot for Khris, or playing a weaker arm in RF, I'd play the bat... er, weaker arm. Davis would probably cover more ground than Hart.
  6. I think it's pretty clear that Melvin felt they'd lose Kottaras for nothing if they DFA'd him. I also think that Martin Maldonado reminded the Brewers just how bad Kottaras is defensively... well, that & the fact that Maldonado has shown an ability to hit well enough to justify being a big-leaguer.
  7. That, right there, is when I stopped reading the analysis. Well that, and the weird, 'Hellweg is totally 7' tall man, I seen 'im.'
  8. I disagree; it's just the way the Rangers operate. Sure it sucks for them to not have Greinke right now, but the Angels overpaid to get him. Like the article 'Stache cited in the OP stated, the Rangers don't build for one season, and that's precisely why they're currently fighting to get to their third straight WS. I could definitely see Daniels ponying up for Josh Johnson, who as others have already stated would be Rangers property through 2013 as well. Also, the 'If DM did/didn't do [X], he should be fired!' posts are really old at this point. If some posters ran the Brewers, we'd go through 8 GMs per season.
  9. Welcome, class, to Driving Up Trade Offers 101. Professor Melvin will be your instructor...
  10. Well his L/R splits to this point are pretty extreme, but v. RH isn't exactly shabby at .870... it's just that it pales compared to a stratospheric 1.640 v. LH! And I don't think it's fair to say you're getting excited over a small sample, Khris has hit his entire pro career. This isn't a one-season breakout (like Burgos, or Morris). I like to think we're a pretty objective community within the MiLB forum, so I'm sure others like you & I have been trying to find that 'catch' as to why we shouldn't be super-excited about Khris... but there just doesn't seem to be one. I guess the fact that there's some guy named Braun playing LF in Milwaukee for the next 10 years or so is one reason to temper enthusiasm about Davis, but you just find a spot for a bat like that if Kh keeps raking.
  11. A quick check of MiLB.com player pages for Pena and Hellweg shows that their regular turns in the rotation will be coming up on Sunday & Monday, respectively. For tonight's game, I think it's going to be good ol' "Downhill Thunder", as Sessile Fielder noted that Nelson was activated off the DL today, and poster X-TAI -- who at the very least knows the Stars inside & out, if not having some inside connections -- speculated on Wednesday that Nelson would be coming off the DL to make the start today. That would likely make the rotation in Huntsville Nelson--Pena--Hellweg--Lowe--Stinson... ? In any event, it makes the Huntsville rotation dang exciting, even with Burgos's well-earned promotion to Nashville!
  12. Hah! Go west, young man, go west!
  13. With great fan support like they get in Huntsville, who can blame him?! Literally dozens of fans at every game!
  14. Reportedly, no. It's unfortunate, but I agree with you... he's looking more & more like a big-league bat.
  15. I had this same thought late last night after the Link Report. I think that would be the perfect time for a refresh. The most encouraging part of Sickels's analysis to me was this -- "[Pena] has plus velocity in the 92-95 range, sometimes higher, and his slider can be very, very good. His changeup isn't as good as the fastball and slider, but he's made substantial progress improving his command this year." And the first thing I thought when I read: "[Hellweg's] biggest weakness at this stage is erratic command, a common problem for very tall pitchers who have issues repeating their mechanics." ... was, Mr. Hellweg, meet Mr. Tunnell...
  16. You know, there's a lot of talk about how by trading Greinke, Melvin was punting on 2012. But he went all-in with the Huntsville roster! SL Championship or bust, baby! Send Burgos back down!
  17. Glad you've enjoyed BF.net so much thus far, Bill. I know it's been enjoyable to read many of your posts... the enthusiasm comes jumping off the cpu monitor Made me snort. Nice.
  18. The Brewers should probably try again to trade for Paul Konerko
  19. Well the irony is rich in that you're just flinging insults around without knowing anything about who you're targeting them at. I get that people are apprehensive about Rogers, but the hyperbole about how fragile he is or isn't really isn't useful imo. If anything, it's a testament to his toughness & dedication that he's overcome so much in his career so far.
  20. Duplicate post from the MLB forum thread... Jonathan Mayo of MLB.com weighs in on the return for the Brewers, including some video of Segura & Hellweg.
  21. Jonathan Mayo of MLB.com weighs in on the return for the Brewers, including some video of Segura & Hellweg.
  22. Don't miss Ryan Braun, creepin' in the back Somebody had to photo-bomb. Yeah, apparently Aaron Rodgers has some other job
  23. It sounds like you've really done your homework here
  24. Don't miss Ryan Braun, creepin' in the back Where Hardy makes hay with range beyond his slow foot speed is that he's always read the ball really well off the bat. Like exceptionally well. Also, (EDIT: unless it's been revised...) range factor as a stat sucks, & ironically tells you very little about a player's range. It's a stat that's heavily influenced by total # of chances, which obviously depends a lot on how many balls are hit your way in a given season.
  25. Phew! That means, no matter what, the Brewers will be able to hang onto Suppan!
