Final: Dodgers 9, Brewers 0 AZL Box Score Three three-run innings from the Dodgers, along with six strong innings from starter Luis Mesa, combined to overwhelm the Brewers. The AZL squad lost their ninth game in the last ten, dropping their record to 3-10 so far on the season. Centerfielder Malcolm Dowell & catcher Cameron Garfield led the way for the offense, with two hits each. Second baseman Kevin Berard walked once & singled once. Leftfielder Matthew Franco ('11 50th-rd.) & first baseman Hitaniel Arias each singled, and Brandon Macias added one walk. 2010 thirteenth-rounder Michael White allowed three runs (all earned) in four innings of work before being replaced during the top of the fifth. '11 UDFA Steven Peterson completed two perfect innings, striking out three, but really only retired four Dodgers hitters. How, you ask? Read on ... After White allowed a leadoff triple & a walk to start the fifth inning, Peterson came on in relief. He struck out the first batter he faced, and on the same play, Garfield cut down Dodgers shortstop Delvis Morales trying to steal second. Dodgers centerfielder Devon Shines tried to score from third on the play, but Berard was able to get the ball back to Garfield in time to complete the incredibly rare triple play. AZL Play-by-Play On a night where the number three featured prominently, here's the triple play... which occurred with the third batter of the inning at the plate, after a three-bagger led off the frame. This was the lone bright spot (aside from Peterson) for the AZL Crew: AZL Dodgers Top of the 5th Devin Shines triples (1) on a fly ball to right fielder Ronny Puello. Delvis Morales walks. Pitcher Change: Stephen Peterson replaces Michael White. Joseph Winker strikes out swinging and Delvis Morales caught stealing 2nd, catcher Cameron Garfield to second baseman Kevin Berard to catcher Cameron Garfield. Devin Shines out at home. Delvis Morales out at 2nd.

Final: Missoula 5, @Helena 2 Brewers Swept by Osprey by Nicholas Allen The Brewers jumped out to an early lead Wednesday night, but were undone by baserunning mistakes and errors as the Missoula Osprey claimed a series sweep with a 5-2 victory at Kindrick Legion Field. Kevin Shackelford (0-1) earned the loss, allowing five runs (three earned) on six hits. Thomas Keeling followed with two scoreless innings in which he struck out four and surrendered just one hit and did not walk a batter. The Brewers got on the board in the second inning as Max Walla doubled and came around to score on a single by Yadiel Rivera. Kyle Dhanani followed with a single to right. On the play, Mike Nemeth was held at third while Yadiel Rivera hustled around second and was eventually tagged out as both runners stood on third base. Ruben Ozuna would later double to drive in Nemeth and Dhanani would attempt to score as well, only to be tagged out at home as he collided with Osprey catcher Fidel Pena to end the inning. Helena had a chance to break the game open in the following inning, loading the bases with nobody out, only for Missoula starter Enrique Burgos (2-1) to strike out the side and end the threat. Burgos earned the victory as he gave up just two runs on six hits in five innings. The Osprey bullpen would hold the Brewers scoreless the rest of the way, with Frank Santana earning his third save of the year. Missoula tied the game in the fourth on back-to-back doubles by Eric Groff and Tom Belza and added three runs in the fifth for the final margin. Adrian Williams committed consecutive errors to open the inning, though Pena was picked off by Shackelford. Chris Ellison connected on his second home run of the season to drive in Justin Bianco. Josh Parr scored on a wild pitch to end the scoring. The two teams will move to Missoula for a two-game series before the Brewers return home for a three game set against the Great Falls Voyagers beginning Saturday July 9. Helena Box Score Robbie Garvey had a single out of the leadoff spot. DH Nick Ramirez added a single & a walk. Catcher Tyler Roberts went 0-4 with three K's (two swinging); Walla had a single to go along with his double. Third baseman Dhanani walked twice in addition to his hit, but committed a throwing error in the 5th. Shackleford was hurt by three Helena errors, all committed in the 5th inning; the Osprey scored three runs (one earned) in the frame. His final line was 7 IP, 6 H, 5 R/3 ER, 0 BB, 4 K. Keeling struck out the side in order in the eighth inning; he allowed a two-out double before shutting things down in the ninth. Helena Play-by-Play Painful inning, take 1: Helena Bottom of the 3rd Robert Garvey singles on a ground ball to center fielder Justin Bianco. With Adrian Williams batting, wild pitch by Enrique Burgos, Robert Garvey to 2nd. Adrian Williams walks. Nick Ramirez singles on a line drive to center fielder Justin Bianco. Robert Garvey to 3rd. Adrian Williams to 2nd. Tyler Roberts called out on strikes. Max Walla strikes out swinging. Michael Nemeth strikes out swinging. Painful inning, take 2: Missoula Top of the 5th Fidel Pena reaches on fielding error by second baseman Adrian Williams. With Justin Bianco batting, Kevin Shackelford picks off Fidel Pena at 1st on throw to Michael Nemeth. Justin Bianco reaches on fielding error by second baseman Adrian Williams. Chris Ellison homers (2) on a fly ball to left field. Justin Bianco scores. Josh Parr reaches on throwing error by third baseman Kyle Dhanani. Josh Parr to 3rd. With Stephen Cardullo batting, wild pitch by Kevin Shackelford, Josh Parr scores. Stephen Cardullo pops out to first baseman Michael Nemeth. Jonathan Griffin flies out to center fielder Ruben Ozuna.

One ball & glove logo, one current logo. Size 7-1/2 & never worn. This is my first ever post in this forum, so I really don't know what to expect. But I was down in the basement earlier tonight & saw these two hats, just sitting there doing no one any good. I guess go ahead & post any ideas for trade. Be nice!

Also, if Gamel can steal away 3B, I hope they let him play fulltime. Let McGehee go to AAA and try to find himself. Gamel doesn't need a platoon partner. Don't you go getting my hopes up. Obligatory video link. -

Final: Missoula 7, @Helena 6 Brewers Fall in Extra Innings By Nicholas Allen The Brewers fought back from a 5-0 first inning deficit to tie the game in the fourth inning and again in the ninth, but never led Tuesday night in Helena. Alex Jones (1-2) suffered the loss for the Brewers allowing a run in the bottom of the tenth inning. After recording a blown save on a passed ball in the ninth, Matt Sample (1-0) earned the victory after tossing a scoreless tenth. Eric Arnett walked Chris Ellison to start the contest and then hit Josh Parr on the first pitch of his at-bat. Ellison and Parr executed a double steal to give the Osprey two runners in scoring position with nobody out. Following a groundout, Jon Griffin singled to drive in both runners. Tom Belza added an RBI single, scoring Griffin and Belza advanced to third when Max Walla misplayed the ball in right field. Belza would score on Jeremia Gomez's double and would come around to score on a single by Fidel Pena, bringing the total to 5-0. Helena would answer immediately in the bottom half as Robbie Garvey led off the inning with a double down the right field line off Missoula starter Robby Rowland. Adrian Williams followed with a single and Garvey and Williams came in to score on Nick Ramirez's double to center. Ramirez would score on a double play, bringing the score to 5-3 at the end of the first. The Brewers would add a run in the bottom of the second on Yadiel Rivera's fourth home run of the season and on a safety squeeze by Williams in the fourth. After the first, Eric Arnett allowed just one more run in six innings of work, striking out eight and walking just one. Griffith would add an RBI single in the fifth as Missoula took a 6-5 lead they would hold until the ninth. Jacob Barnes pitched 0.2 scoreless innings and Alan Williams followed with 2.1 innings of shutout work, surrendering one hit and striking out five while surrendering just one hit. The two teams will meet for the finale of the two game series Wednesday at Kindrick Legion Field. Gates open at six, first pitch is 7:05. Helena Box Score Eight total runs were scored in the first inning. Just seemed like that should be noted. Leadoff man Garvey went 3-4 with a walk and stolen base. Williams, Ramirez, & Rivera accounted for all Helena RBI. Walla & Parker Berberet added one single apiece. 2011 UDFA Alan Williams finished with an impressive line in relief. The lefty's listed at 6'3", 195 lbs., and was signed this past offseason from the independent Washington Wild Wings. Wild Things director of baseball operations Darin Everson noted his "power arm"; Williams played college ball at Meridian Community College (MS). Obviously we don't have a definitive scouting report, but a ratio of 18 K/3 BB is pretty impressive in just 8.2 IP. His success thus far has been exclusive to facing lefties, but he can boast a 13/3 K/BB ratio against righties. Helena Play-by-Play After four scoreless innings, the Brewers scratched out a run to tie things up in the bottom of the 9th: Helena Bottom of the 9th Pitcher Change: Matt Sample replaces Keith Hessler. Yadiel Rivera grounds out, third baseman Ryan Court to first baseman Jonathan Griffin. Douglas Elliot walks. Offensive Substitution: Pinch runner Ruben Ozuna replaces Douglas Elliot. John Dishon strikes out swinging. Robert Garvey singles on a ground ball to right fielder Jeremia Gomez. Ruben Ozuna to 3rd. With Adrian Williams batting, Robert Garvey steals (3) 2nd base. With Adrian Williams batting, passed ball by Fidel Pena, Ruben Ozuna scores. Robert Garvey to 3rd. Adrian Williams strikes out swinging. Missoula came right back in the top of the 10th, though, singling & small-balling their way to the win: Missoula Top of the 10th Defensive Substitution: Tyler Roberts replaces Ruben Ozuna, batting 8th, playing catcher. Pitcher Change: Alex Jones replaces Alan Williams. Jonathan Griffin singles on a ground ball to left fielder John Dishon. Eric Groff singles on a fly ball to right fielder Max Walla. Jonathan Griffin to 2nd. Tom Belza singles on a bunt ground ball to pitcher Alex Jones. Jonathan Griffin to 3rd. Eric Groff to 2nd. Jeremia Gomez grounds into a force out, shortstop Yadiel Rivera to catcher Tyler Roberts. Jonathan Griffin out at home. Eric Groff to 3rd. Tom Belza to 2nd. Jeremia Gomez to 1st. Fidel Pena grounds into a force out, shortstop Yadiel Rivera to second baseman Adrian Williams. Eric Groff scores. Tom Belza to 3rd. Jeremia Gomez out at 2nd. Fidel Pena to 1st. Justin Bianco grounds out, shortstop Yadiel Rivera to first baseman Nick Ramirez.

Final: @Billings 8, Helena 7 Helena Box Score The Brewers tied the game at six in the top of the 5th with a three-run inning, but they wound up one run short. Eric Arnett had a rough start, working four innings while allowing seven hits & six runs -- only one earned, though. He walked one batter & struck out three. Two Brewers errors & timely two-out RBI singles by Billings led to most of the damage against Arnett. Seth Lintz wasn't able to cool off the Billings bats, allowing two runs on three hits in two innings. Sean Albury (11' 31st-rd.) & Alex Jones combined to keep the Mustangs off the scoreboard in the final two innings. There was plenty to be happy about on the offensive side, however. Yadiel Rivera went 1-4 with a triple & a walk; first baseman Nick Ramirez ('11 4th-rd.) had two singles & two RBI. Rightfielder Max Walla went 3-4 with a solo home run; leftfielder Kenny Allison was 3-4 with three RBI. Catcher Tyler Roberts went 2-4 with a double & RBI; he also threw out the only Mustangs baserunner to attempt a steal. Third baseman Mike Nemeth ('11 21st-rd.) walked twice. In his third consecutive game as the leadoff man, second baseman Adrian Williams ('11 45th-rd.) drew a walk & stole a base; centerfielder Ruben Ozuna also walked once. Helena Play-by-Play The third inning was unkind to Arnett: Billings Bottom of the 3rd Kurtis Muller grounds out, second baseman Adrian Williams to first baseman Nick Ramirez. Dayne Read singles on a bunt ground ball to third baseman Michael Nemeth. Devin Lohman reaches on force attempt, fielding error by shortstop Yadiel Rivera. Dayne Read to 2nd. Drew Poulk singles on a ground ball to center fielder Ruben Ozuna. Dayne Read scores. Devin Lohman to 2nd. Sean Buckley grounds out, shortstop Yadiel Rivera to first baseman Nick Ramirez. Devin Lohman to 3rd. Drew Poulk to 2nd. Kyle Waldrop singles on a ground ball to left fielder Kenneth Allison. Devin Lohman scores. Drew Poulk scores. With Nick O'Shea batting, Kyle Waldrop caught stealing 2nd base, catcher Tyler Roberts to second baseman Adrian Williams. I'm assuming someone would've been credited with an assist if Rivera had dropped a throw at second base. Did he just drop the ball while trying to step on second? Confusing. More defensive pain for Arnett: Billings Bottom of the 4th Nick O'Shea pops out to third baseman Michael Nemeth in foul territory. Adam Muenster walks. Yovan Gonzalez grounds into a force out, pitcher Eric Arnett to shortstop Yadiel Rivera to second baseman Adrian Williams. Adam Muenster out at 2nd. Yovan Gonzalez to 1st. Kurtis Muller reaches on missed catch error by first baseman Nick Ramirez, assist to pitcher Eric Arnett. Yovan Gonzalez to 3rd. Kurtis Muller to 2nd. Dayne Read singles on a ground ball to left fielder Kenneth Allison. Yovan Gonzalez scores. Kurtis Muller scores. Devin Lohman strikes out swinging. The mistakes weren't exclusive to the defense, unfortunately: Helena Top of the 5th Yadiel Rivera walks. Nick Ramirez singles on a ground ball to right fielder Kyle Waldrop. Yadiel Rivera to 3rd. Parker Berberet flies out to left fielder Dayne Read. Michael Nemeth walks. Nick Ramirez to 2nd. Pitcher Change: Carlos Contreras replaces Wes Mugarian. Tyler Roberts singles on a line drive to left fielder Dayne Read. Yadiel Rivera scores. Nick Ramirez to 3rd. Michael Nemeth to 2nd. Max Walla strikes out swinging. Kenneth Allison singles on a ground ball to center fielder Kurtis Muller. Nick Ramirez scores. Michael Nemeth scores. Tyler Roberts out at 3rd, center fielder Kurtis Muller to third baseman Sean Buckley to shortstop Devin Lohman to third baseman Sean Buckley. For being just a one-run loss, there sure was a lot to be frustrated with for Helena. They scored one run in the 8th to close the gap to one run, and then had men on first & second with no outs... and couldn't tack on: Helena Top of the 8th Pitcher Change: James Allen replaces Carlos Contreras. Tyler Roberts doubles (2) on a line drive to right fielder Kyle Waldrop. Max Walla singles on a ground ball to left fielder Dayne Read. Tyler Roberts to 3rd. Kenneth Allison singles on a line drive to left fielder Dayne Read. Tyler Roberts scores. Max Walla to 2nd. Ruben Ozuna grounds into a force out, shortstop Devin Lohman to second baseman Adam Muenster. Max Walla to 3rd. Kenneth Allison out at 2nd. Ruben Ozuna to 1st. Adrian Williams reaches on a fielder's choice out, pitcher James Allen to catcher Yovan Gonzalez to third baseman Sean Buckley. Max Walla out at home. Ruben Ozuna to 3rd on the throw. Adrian Williams to 2nd. Yadiel Rivera called out on strikes.

Casey McGehee's struggles: how much leash does he get?

Casey definitely made a couple great plays today at third. I'm still in favor of bringing up Green, but I was glad to see Casey contribute today. -
Greinke: someone talk me off the ledge
TooLiveBrew replied to Bombers's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
Remember that a great pitch can be knocked over the fence four a 3 run homer and a terrible pitch can be grounded weakly back to the mound; the result of a pitch does not determine the quality of the pitch, although that is an extremely hard distinction to make. My gut is telling me that Greinke must be getting the plate or missing spots in key situations, but I just haven't seen anything to confirm (or deny) that feeling. Ultimately I think the truth lies somewhere between both camps; I certainly don't think Greinke has been 5.7 ERA bad, but I also don't think he's having a good season, as the fangraphs writer suggested. I think we can all agree that he should get better results from here on out, although it may not seem that way at times. Any time this thread gets bumped in the future, this segment of your post should just be required to be re-posted. -
I enjoyed the watermelon. Nice fresh watermelon taste. Plus it was clear, so there was no telling the 6'8" giant was drinking a fru fru drink. Awesome. My best friend would drink almost exclusively Raspberry Stoli & lemonade when we were in college. Well, that or some Jameson & Coke if we were mixing... we did eventually go to just Jameson on the rocks. But yeah, he took quite a bit of flack for the pink drink. He's only about 5'10", though, so maybe it made more sense. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Would the Brewers consider trading Greinke?
TooLiveBrew replied to alwz4gbp's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
it's pretty obvious that Grienke is a fragile, high maintenance type of guy. I don't think this is obvious in any way. -
Greinke: someone talk me off the ledge
TooLiveBrew replied to Bombers's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
When Gallardo is on, his stuff looks electric. I agree with fondybrewerfan, we just haven't seen that from Greinke. Yeah he gets his K's but he also gets way too many pitches squared up. Except for the stretch where Gallardo struggled and a sky is falling thread was started for him, too. Since when can 6 of 11 good outings be interpreted as a good thing? My main point is that it's a small sample that people are getting worked up about. His cumulative ERA over the past three seasons is 3.24. If anyone really believes that Greinke has suddenly forgotten how to pitch well, I really don't know what to say. Gallardo, by the way, has had 10 good starts & 7 bad starts... 59% good. Greinke is at 55% good starts so far, & hasn't gone on a great run yet like Yo did in starts 8-13. ZG will, and he will pitch like he has over his career, not like a 5.00+ ERA pitcher His stuff just doesn't look that good; he can't locate at all and when you can't locate it doesn't matter how good your breaking stuff is. This comment is just complete cherry-picking from his bad starts. He's shown fantastic command in multiple appearances this season. I can agree his results haven't been good so far, but people need to just relax. -
Why can't this team hit on the road?

I'm sure the guys are out perusing wine menus. Because you can't get wine or other alcohol in Wisconsin. -
Greinke: someone talk me off the ledge
TooLiveBrew replied to Bombers's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
I still think he can turn it around; but I feel it would make more sense to extend Marcum long term than Grienke. Marcum has been extremely consistent; Grienke obviously hasn't. Are you basing who should be extended on half of a season? Greinke's younger, has far better stuff, hasn't had TJ surgery, & just won't continue to get this bad of results. He had a bad start against the best offense in baseball, there's really nothing more to it than that. 6 of his 11 starts have been up to expectations. Like the FanGraphs article says, "Step off the ledge, Brewers fans; everything is going to be alright." -
Casey McGehee's struggles: how much leash does he get?
TooLiveBrew replied to Robideaux's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
Hang in there, Casey. We want you to start playing well again almost as much as you want to. I still think that calling up Green & giving him the starts against RHP is the correct call right now. Green is just that good. -
