  1. IMHO, yes. I love the three-headed monster of Villy, YoGa, & Parra getting Sheet's missed starts. That's a heckuva lot better than the ZachJack/Eveland/others combo that made the Ohka & Sheets starts in 2006. I'd imagine the workload would descend in the same order I listed the boys, with Villy getting the heaviest workload, & Parra getting the fewest total IP (he's got great value as a second LHP out of the pen) EDIT: If Villy's got a similar innings limit (for example's sake, use 190 IP), that gives him roughly 125 more innings this year. I think between the three, the innings will be more than enough to cover the time Ben's out. However, it's obviously beneficial to everyone for that time to be as short as possible - especially Ben (as in, shortest time to heal, not rush him back)
  2. FWIW, Cappy's 2007 OPSA: - .784 ... ISPA: .154 Willis (2007): .809 ... ISPA: .168 EDIT: So, in my amatuer figurings, it appears that Cappy has been hit (semi-)frequently to league-avergae, but not very hard. For example, Prince Fielder's ISP this season is .332, which leads the NL. Miguel Cabrera is second in slugging, at .602, but with his much higher .326 BA, his ISP is lower, at .276. Ryan Howard's .314 ISP is 2d in MLB. I don't know specifically how a .154 or a .168 ISP translates, but it seems pretty good. Jake Peavy's .060 ISPA is simply filthy, and Sheeter boasts a .153. (Please correct any errors I've made)
  3. A lot of work to get a mid-level prospect, but you've got a point. I'd guess that the Cubs weren't plotting these moves around that, but instead on finding a C, when they already had one. I understand that maybe guys don't get along, but they made a mistake in dealing Barrett, imho.
  4. Unfortunately, I was in attendance Sunday to see the 'lineup' which included TG & CC. *barf!* Counsell was putrid, chopping his first three at bats to either the 2Bman or 1Bman. Awful. (his D, as always, was stellar) Obviously JJ got really tired out drawing that one BB in the ASG, and Weeks needed a day off too, huh? Poor managing, Ned. And I'm one of your biggest backers. Having that duo in the lineup darn near cost us the game. No offense was clicking - at all - until very late. A better team would've handed us the loss on Sunday. Here's to tonight! Back up Vargas! He likes to give up runs!
  5. I....love....this.....trade.....! Seriously, not much has been better this year than seeing them give up on Barrett. Let's see, trade Barrett for Bowen, then give Bowen & more to get Kendall....OOPS! It's a very good time to be a Brewers fan.
  6. Amen! This is the best way to summarize nearly anyone's frustration with this network.
  7. Minor league stats. Seriously, I think that's about the only thing. Good thing there's The Cube!
  8. Giving up on Weeks now is just as unwise as giving up on JJ was last year. I stuck up for JJ then, because we'd seen what he's capable of doing when playing well. Same with Weeks. To act like he suddenly has become incapable of slugging the ball for the rest of his career is ridiculous. His defense has improved mightily, and I'd be shocked if Rickie wasn't back & slugging by the end of this year or next. For now, he's our 8-hole hitter, and the only way he can go at this point is up - which I'm confident in him doing, because I know what a full-strength Rickie Weeks can do. He's shown us. Although his season/career stats may not show it, Rickie is a patient hitter with a ton of power for a 2Bman. He has fantastic speed, works his butt off, and always hustles. I have faith in him not because I 'like' him, but because the game that Weeks brings is one not easily acquired at any position, let alone 2B.
  9. eesh! hope all is well.
  10. You hit the nail on the head. Weeks at 100% >> Roberts at 100%. And Roberts is a fine player.
  11. It's not his intelligence in this case, IMO. This is from the National Baseball Hall of Fame website. I'd say Sheff is suspect in at least 3, perhaps 4 areas. This is the justification used in not letting McGwire get anywhere close this past election.
  12. EEK! He also notes a "necessary adjustment" to move YoGa back into the rotation. Oh well, at least coverage in Madison is getting better...hopefully
  13. no thanks. Brian Roberts << Rickie Weeks
  14. Homophobic AND racist! What a combo! Gary Sheffield: Everyone treats me differently (and not to my liking), and the only reason is because I'm black...did you just call me 'boy'?! No? Oh, thought I heard you say that...nevermind
  15. I'm really looking forward to some hot lefty-on-lefty action tonight! Seriously though, this is a nice pitching matchup. Withdrawl almost done Symptoms were too much to bear Antidote? Cowbell!
  16. I'm still not even sure I want Larry Harris running this team
  17. interesting point, Jacob, but I can't resist this little bit of discussion - http://i2.tinypic.com/263tweb.jpg
  18. imho, it's easier to catch in the first few seconds of the YouTube clip, fwiw
  19. Was?! hehehe http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/roll.gif ! great funny day on bf.net today http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  20. he meant Graffy looks like the Canadian chip-master, not Yost. And, omg that doctor is Yost in 25 years! Great call!
  21. Brian, you can have a little cry if you want -- it's the 1990s, men can be sensitive!
  22. My sense of humor is sensitive - to funny stuff like this http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/roll.gif
  23. thanks for the info-update, patrick! How do you mean, though, that the team 'isn't that bad'? Aside from Mike Redd, we're below or at league average almost across the board (IMHO). Simmons? Bogut? (he's getting better, and most likely will continue to do so, to be fair) Villanueva (see Bogut comments)? We have no clear starting PG, no clear starting SF, and are coming off a terrible season. While 2007-08 may be better for the Bucks, I have grave doubt that we won't again be in the bottom half of the league. (honestly, this isn't meant to be a 'so there!' post; I sincerely want to hear your optimism and opinion on the team) http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Bucks' Official Site Roster Page
  24. *standing ovation* Just to chip in my two cents on this one (bc I want to, not that it'll be earth-shattering)....Lay out rules. Clear-cut, no-one-is-exempt rules. Implement them mid-season if you have to. This has gotten to the point where, talented they may be, they're hurting their team and themselves. People freak out about 'What'll we do without Joey & Mikey!?', so these kids coast by their whole time in sports, acting as they see fit, with little regard for others. If they aren't willing to be a part of a team, there's nothing preventing them from leaving. The true concept of a team (IMO, 'I've got your back, and I know you've got mine') is SO much more valuable than an individual or group of individuals. These kids have no respect for that, so kick them off the team if they aren't willing to stop their arrogant, selfish, and crybaby ways.
  25. One reason I think Yi is hesitant to join our club is that, frankly, it stinks. This is another blow to the talent level of an already lowly squad. I'm not a big Mo Williams fan, as I value a PG that can play D, but losing talented ballers is rarely a good thing. What's the latest on Chauncey Billups? Has he re-signed with Det.? He had mentioned he was going to test the open market...
