    Yes. He killed a lot of people when he was on the Reds. This was what I proposed when Wong to the Mariners was first rumored, so I'm very pleased with the deal. Wish he had more than one year left though. I think he'll be much better than Renfroe at $3MM less salary.

    Yep. I should have italicized "hope". I think it's possible for the next couple years but it might get really rough after that.

    Stick him at DH (or 1b). Hope for 3 WAR. Repeat for 5 years (ugh). Not many options other than that. At 3 WAR he's not a disaster. Not good, but not a disaster.

    I like it. Well done. Only quibble would be I don't see any way Oakland trades Puk for Taylor. I'd love that deal no matter what other moves we'd make, but I can't see Oakland doing that.

    Well you've definitely seen him more than I have so I'll defer to you somewhat. If he can indeed become a .420+ slugging guy, he's far more valuable than I'm giving him credit for. I'm skeptical, but hoping you're right.

    --I know, but I seriously doubt we keep all of them next year. I think we trade 2 of them this offseason. --I didn't post that. I just quoted it. I don't think there's any real chance he hits like that, hence my indifference to trading him.

    Good post. To answer your last question, I think this is the last year we have all of Burnes, Woodruff and Hader. In short, despite the obvious problems, I think this is our best shot at a World Series. Hope to be wrong.

    I'd trade Turang for Bell in an instant. I'm not very high on Turang though, some are. I personally would not deal Kelly for him though.

    This. I think they do have better options. The alternative to Norris going forward is Gustave (he will likely be optioned once off COVID), Topa, or Sanchez (optioned when Houser comes off COVID). I think the reason Stearns acquired him was for depth. They didn't know if they could trust all these RH relievers we had with excellent but small sample results. I'm sure they thought he could be a decent reliever but he has not been. Its a small sample, sure, but we gave up a lot for a rental. Reece has been pitching very well for Detroit. I'm not ready to DFA him yet, but I'm close. An ineffective 3rd LH RP << Topa, Sanchez, or Gustave. I mean, yeah, if you think he won't improve, I agree. But I'd rather give him another month to try to figure it out. I believe he has a chance to be the most useful of the 4 in the long run (maybe Topa, but I believe he'll be given another chance soon). DFA'ing him now would be foolish (not you, the original post I quoted) when others have options. We are in a good position to be able to figure this out on the fly.

    The alternative to Norris would be Perdomo/Milner. Do you think they are better options? Certainly Norris hasn't had a good first few outings by any stretch, but shouldn't call for a DFA unless you are convinced one of those guys is better. I think we give Norris a few more chances before we cut ties. And he'll actually probably be easier to hide in the back of the bullpen once September rolls around if he doesn't figure it out before then. Regardless, this is a bit of a miss for Stearns at this point clearly unless something drastically changes. This.

    Meh. Not worried about Olson. Not a huge fan of this, but he seems like he'll help some. Need another pen arm. Raisel Iglesias please.

    I've seen several people say this. Olson hasn't shown much other than he walks a lot of guys. Am I missing something with him?
