  1. Well this will make crewin07 happy at least.
  2. Brewcrewin07 went from shooting for the moon (Syndergaard), to shooting for an airplane (Ray), to shooting for a sparrow (Roark). He got to the point with his "grass is always greener" philosophy that he literally wanted to grab anyone that wasn't familiar. All he cared about was wanting a big name guy at first, damned the current results or price. At the end, he simply wanted anyone, yet at the same time he knocked Jordan Lyles and Jacob Faria because he self-appointingly called them "non needle-movers". The guy was all over the map in his disgust. I hear ya. It's fairly comical actually. I personally don't think this is the season to go for it, nor do I think any of the pitchers moved were particularly great answers for various reasons, so I'm fine with what they did. This team probably isn't good enough to do much in October if they do manage to get there. I don't see the sense in mortgaging the future this season.
  3. Yeah, the Tanner Roark obsession is baffling. I get the point that somehow 2 league-average pitchers were going to make some big difference......problem is the point is a poor one.
  4. I don't particularly care about this deal much. Or any Brewers deal today. They dealt a bunch of question marks for different qutestion marks. Eh.
  5. @FreezingColdTakes A lot of 'new' posters saying absurd things that arent true. Shocker. Of course that doesn't mean this one poster is new. I also didn't say that. Edit: I can see why people thought I did though. That whole post was screwed up quote-wise.
  6. Crawford has been 1.9 WAR or higher every season of his career, averaging around 2.9. 2 big seasons of 4.3 & 5.3, but otherwise quite consistently around 2. https://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=5343&position=SS
  7. I would never have guessed he would really compete for the MVP race...but then again I would never have thought the MVP race would be so, average. Yelich is really good, but won't even hit a 7 WAR (just over 6 right now) according to Baseball Reference. Just looking at the last few years: 2018 - 6.1 WAR (Yelich/Baez currently) 2017 - 7.6 WAR 2016 - 7.4 WAR 2015 - 10 WAR (holy...) 2014 - 7.7 WAR 2013 - 7.9 WAR 2012 - 7.6 WAR 2011 - 7.7 WAR 2007 - Jimmy Rollins 6.1 WAR Rollins was a low WAR guy as was Ryan Howard when he won it. That being said I don't know who was voting back then but wow... How did Ryan Howard ever win it over Pujols in 2006 is amazing. It is pretty impressive how low bar was set this year in the NL to be the best. The NL just does not have a Trout/Betts/etc. I don't know how far back one would have to go to find zero NL hitters without a 7+ WAR. I was interested, so I checked. 2014 no NL hitters over 7, and only 1 pitcher (Kershaw). Before that, 1986. And before that 1942. So, yeah. Not a great position player season in the NL this year.
  8. There were so many guys that went through El Paso that put up monster numbers. Glenn Braggs, Joey Meyer, Billy Jo, all went through the same year. Glenn Braggs..... that dude was freakin' ripped. He should have/could have put up some good power numbers. I remember after he left MLB he went over to Japan and had a couple of big power seasons. Ugh. So many disappointments. I'll never forget how shocked I was that Glenn Braggs was African-American. Hilarious how the world has changed in 30 years.
  9. Has Yelich spoken publicly since the trade? I'd be curious to hear his thoughts. Mightve missed it.
  10. Ok. I don't think it's remotely obvious. I think they underpaid for Yelich and possibly by a lot. Cain I think was market value for 3 or 4 years, but I think the 5th year hurts. What I know for sure is that no one knows and no one will know for at least 3 years.
  11. Saying anything is definite is just dumb. You sound ridiculous. But I'll leave you to it.
  12. Well, you're nothing if not predictable. I'm not laughing at your opinion, just that I would've bet my life you were going to say it. To make any grand proclamations about getting taken to the cleaners is really, really silly. We'll see.
  13. I'm more confident than ever that we gave up too much now. My first thought too, but opposite.
  14. I'm pretty thrilled with this. I'm really happy we gave up no pitching of note. Yamamoto has 4th starter potential, but he's a long way from reaching it. Despite my avatar, the more I think about Brinson the less I like him. I'm really worried about his ability to stay healthy, or lack thereof. Diaz has a chance to be a good player, but I think he's pretty clearly our 2nd best 2b prospect. He could've been used as a trade chip later, but I won't lose any sleep over losing him. Harrison has the highest ceiling, and when I first heard Brinson, Diaz and 2 others, I was completely thrilled. When i heard Harrison's name I was less so. It scares me to give him up. I think he's unlikely to hit his ceiling, but his ceiling is super-high. Yelich is going to be great here. His power numbers are going to skyrocket in my opinion and hopefully having less ground to cover in center will pull him up to average in cf [unless Cain is incoming]. He is exactly what I feel this team needed in a 2/3 hitter. High OBP, good power and good wheels. And left handed on top of it. He is the perfect offensive addition and he's ours for 5 years pretty cheap. I can certainly understand why some people dislike this deal, but I feel like they'll be over it by Memorial Day. He's going to be a joy to watch
