  1. You are probably right that it is wishful thinking to get Cain without using Gamel or LaPorta. A big part of me being ok with moving Fielder is me assuming Gamel and LaPorta are going to soften the blow to the offense.
  2. Torres and Sheets throwing 95 doesn't really surprise me. Either way, he's throwing as hard as both of them according to that gun, and that surprised me.
  3. JJ Hardy is not fast. I understand the difference between baserunning and speed. He does not have good speed. Average AT BEST.
  4. I'm pretty sure Escobar and Iribarren are some "spare parts" the Giants would like to have in their organization right about now. I don't think it's that unlikely at all for them to move Sanchez or Cain for the right combination of position player prospects. Obviously the price tag goes up if were talking Lincecum and one of that Matt's would need to be involved(if it's only prospects). It still makes too much sense to me. Both teams would be dealing some of their strength to improve their weakness. It could be one of those everybody wins type deals.
  5. I would love to try and get Price, even if Prince is the cost. Then send SF a prospect package for Cain. I'd feel a lot better about our chances going forward with a rotation like that even with the (potential) loss of offense from Prince to Mat(t) Gallardo Price Cain Parra Suppan/Bush/CV *drool*
  6. I guess I always thought of him as a reliever, but it makes a lot of sense that he can run it up there harder as a one inning guy as opposed to going multiple innings. I'd like to keep him in the pen as well and see if he can't be an effective middle/set-up guy. I love that he had a little league field in his backyard. One of my Little League teammates had an enclosed batting cage with a pitching machine. Did you play in Northwest?
  7. I had no idea he threw mid 90s. I like this guy. (unambigufied thread title --1992)
  8. i was out last night and didnt see the news until the line up was posted on the game. I was shocked, and pumped, and my next reaction was to come here. some pretty funny stuff in this thread with the anchor man stuff. I also laughed pretty hard at the mane comments
  9. I just wanted to add that I really think we need to take advantage of the Giants. They have pitching, we need pitching. We have position players, they need position players. As Louis pointed out, they have so many guys in their everyday lineup that need to be replaced, soon. I'd offer some prospect package for Sanchez, or a better package for Cain, as long as they dont include Gamel or LaPorta. I have a lot of faith in Jack Z and co. re-stocking our position player depth on the farm and most of our positions at the MLB are covered for at least 3 years anyways.
  10. In my eyes its simple, this team will not really compete unless quality pitching is added. If Sheets leaves that point only magnifies. The best way to add these arms is through trade, since its highly unlikely through FA. We have enough back of the rotation guys, we need another frontline guy, and a closer. Prince is so logical to move to me cause he'd bring the highest quality arm(s) back, we have his replacement(s) ready, and he's not interested in signing here, and I'm glad considering what the price tag will be. Bottom line, we will not compete as long as 4/5 of our rotation are 4th or 5th starters at best.
  11. I dont get why we'd be destined to be worse off without him. Unless he has a terrible year that lowers his value some, I'd definitely listen this off-season. We need more quality arms, moving him is the most logical way to get top flight arm(s). LaPorta + pitching from Prince trade > Prince
  12. Ryan Braun. 3B Miami. RF for Miami is Brendan Katin. Pretty sure LaPorta is at 1st for UF. Not sure about the WAC, sorry
  13. Gallardo was my favorite http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  14. i always simulate my first year. anyone else ever have dave bush just dominate?
  15. I think you are off base. You think Prince will be signed long term. I strongly disagree for a lot of the reasons you mentioned, especially the Boras reason and his seemingly poor attitude about his contract status. It seems like a contradiction to say you want to extend Prince AND improve pitching. How? The point of this thread is that pitching needs to be improved, which you agree on. But, how does that happen if we dump a lot of money into Prince? Not only does that tie up money but he's probably our best asset to net top tier pitching, and has a couple of replacement options knocking on the door. I like the King Felix idea a couple people have mentioned. Clement would also be nice, even if he doesn't stick behind the plate. He could get some starts at catcher and some at first to give LaPorta a day off here and there against tough righties. If he sticks behind the plate, even better. Prince/Bush/Brad Nelson for King Felix and Jeff Clement
  16. I echo the Braun love going around this thread. Not only is he our only guy producing it seems like it bothers him more than anyone else that we're playing like a AA team
  17. I would do that in a heartbeat. What about adding Jeff Clement for their choice of a prospect not named Mat(t)?
  18. I could not agree more. I've said it in other threads, we need to deal a position player(s) for arms. Prince makes a lot of sense to me. He's a terrible first basemen(defensively obviously), he would have more value in netting arms than a prospect package would, and those prospects (Gamel, Laporta) staying here would be cheaper making it easier to keep more of the "core" around. The Boras factor and his bickering about being re-newed still leave a bitter taste in my mouth too. If he's here beyond his arby years, it wont be cheap and honestly I don't want to see that. Overpay for a guy that seems to care that much about the money and possibly cripple the franchise? Stop whining and go play, like Braun did, and look how he got rewarded. In the end that is what's so refreshing and awesome to me, Braun wants to be here, he didn't need the mega crazy deal to convince him. He likes its here and he took a deal that everyone seems to agree was fair to him and the franchise. I heard someone on the radio say it was important to him to have a deal that everyone was satisfied with, not just him. That's the anti-Boras if there is one. I love Ryan Braun.
  19. sinker? Sure is hard to argue against his results right now
  20. If Braun does eventually move to center, or even right, this deal is so good in club's favor its insane. With that said, it's not like it's a bad deal for him either. Corey Hart is next, I really have little faith in Prince being here post arby. I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but that doesnt really bother me.
  21. you caught me..yeah, i like to edit the batting stances, and since im calling the shots, those guys will be in my line up in a few years http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  22. Anyone know anything about any of these guys batting stances: Gamel LaPorta Brantley Salome any other prospects for that matter Thanks
  23. Parra deserved better. Nice job Manny!
  24. Game, I've decided to go to a more split routine. One muscle a day, work it hard that one day and give it plenty of recovery time, sound similar to what you're doing. I'm satisfied with where my stomach is now, especially with added bulk. Oh yeah, it also helps that the ladies I've asked also voted for the muscles over the abs. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Pretendastronaut, that is a really good site. Tons of good stuff there as you said, thanks for the tip
