  1. I am a fan of Gwynn. But, I agree about him batting 2nd. That is a prime spot for a hitter in front of Prince and Braun I'd rather have a guy there that can take advantage of pitchers coming after him. I'd like Hart there more than him 6th. Give him more ABs. Bump Hardy to 6th and Gwynn 7th
  2. I agree. Zambrano was dealing and he had 2 of our 3 hits, I don't care how they came. Hall, Hart and Counsell(heh) are the only ones who had solid hits the whole day. I'd take 4 solid ABs over 1 really good one. With the game on the line he did exactly what he was supposed to do in driving the ball. On a daily basis, I'll take 2/3 any way I can get it. Looking down the line, I'd rather have a guy hitting the ball hard going 0/4 than a guy barely making contact going 2/3. What do you mean barely making contact? With how this team has struck out in the past, I'll take one singles hitter who consitently makes contact whether they are seeds or not. Now will he consistently make contact and carry a high enough BA to make him valuable, that remains to be seen. I do think he deserves that shot. Why is it so impossible to consider the fact that he might be one of the rare players in our system that is defense first and took a little longer to come around offensively? I think some people use his dad AGAINST him more than for him. His dad means nothing to me.
  3. I like our chances. We have some real lefty killers with Braun, Hart, Hall, Hardy. If memory serves without looking at the numbers, Soup was pretty good against the Cubs last year. Although Lee literally owns Suppan, scary.
  4. So, he had no hits, except for the two hits he had? Pretty sure he had 2 of our 3 hits heading into the 9th. I don't care if they were bloop singles or ropes up the middle, he did his job, he got on base in front of our mashers.
  5. Michaels and all of the other idiots at WTMJ always spew garbage out of their mouths without looking things up and knowing what they're talking about so that wouldn't surprise me. To them batting average=on base percentage so if your batting average is low to them it clearly shows you can't get on base. Yeah, I was assuming he meant BA because that would make some sense at least. He said "on base percentage" more than once though implying Rickie sucks at getting on base which was kinda pissing me off. oh well
  6. Not sure where to post this so I'll put it here...I was listening to 620 after the game and Bill Michaels was talking about Kendall batting 9th. He said something along the lines of Weeks needing to raise his OBP. hmmmm? Did anyone else hear that?
  7. Since my first vote failed. I will go with........Corey Hart again http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif...5th inning
  8. Does Kapler start against the lefty despite Tony G's hot start? Kapler has had the most ABs against Lilly, but hasn't had much success against him.
  9. My dad also picked Braun in the 6th inning...after sarcastically picking Mike Cameron ha
  10. The anticipation of opening day is enough on its own, this is brutal to have to wonder if it will even happen now.
  11. No one implied there was anything wrong with it. I only brought it up trying to be funny considering all the women I know hate that I "have to watch every game" and am "obsessed with a website." haha
  12. No wonder everyone is sold on the Cubs making the play-offs, I had no idea they were a neutral team
  13. Pick the first Brewer to homer this year and the inning. First game Second inning Corey Hart. Left center. Moon shot.
  14. Coolest girl ever? I have to work during the game, I was planning on DVRing it and watching it when I get off..But I drive for my job, and I don't know if I can resist the temptation to just listen to the game and watch the recording later. Most times I'll record it and watch it later but I don't know if I'll keep my sanity trying to not tune in on the radio.
  15. I agree I can't wait another day Zambrano looks like the devil in his picture on the Brewers homepage on mlb.com
  16. But you can have him on a strict pitch count so even if he only goes 5 innings then so be it. Screw the AAA pen, not the one in Milwaukee
  17. DVR bro, DVR http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif This move surprises me, and tells me a couple things. A) Gallardo won't be out long at all, I didn't think he would be, but I doubt they'd make this move if they were worried about Yo being out more than a couple starts. B) I agree with the other posters who said they are pleased with Narveson and possibly ZJ as the emergency depth. When Yo comes back, where do we go? - Keep Parra in rotation and watch his innings and maybe skip some starts, Bush (or CV) to the pen. -Parra to AAA to limit innings and have on call when needed -Parra to pen to limit innings
  18. I agree 100% with this. I'd love to see Manny stay in the rotation all year I just think we need to play it safe for one more year. And by play it safe I mean have him in the minors pitching every 5th day on a low pitch count so down the stretch we have him. I like him starting the year in the rotation but I don't think Gallardo will be out long and when he's back I'd send Parra down until we need him.
  19. Hart is my favorite player, it might have something to do with the fact that I'm a 6'6'' outfielder that runs well. I love his power/speed combo. Where can I find a Hart jersey? (other than just buying a custom one with "1" and "Hart" on the back because I assume that's more expensive?)
  20. This is exactly what I'd like to see. I'd like to keep Vargas and Cappy in the pen too. Why not have 2 guys that can go multiple innings and spot start if needed, one lefty and one righty. That leaves 5 spots for the pen. Gagne, Riske, Turnbow, Shouse, Torres, (Mota). I think I'd rather have Vargas in the pen over Mota. That's what I'd like to see, but I think Cappy will start in the rotation with Parra at AAA. For some reason I feel like even if Parra throws well in ST he will still end up in AAA. Not saying that's wrong, I can't argue being cautious and patient with him. But it's tempting to give him a shot though especially if he "earns it in ST."
  21. 1. Miller Park- Love the tailgating, the roof, and my team 2. Jacob's Field- I like the area behind center field, it's a park like setting with concessions and tables. I saw a play-off game, Game 4 ALCS against the Red Sox this year, so the atmosphere was unbelievable. It makes me want the Brewers to go to the play-offs that much more. EVERYONE was into the game, cheering together, no fighting or dumb arguments. Overall a really good time. 3. Yankee Stadium- Cleveland was more recent, and a play-off game so it gets the nod. I was young but the atmosphere was pretty cool for a regular season game. On the same trip we saw Robin Yount get inducted to the Hall. I was pretty young but going there and to Yankee stadium is pretty unforgettable. Chase Field was pretty cool, reminded me some of Miller Park inside. I didn't see a game because it was March, we just ate at Friday's.
  22. Yeah I don't get it, just because we have mostly all righties doesn't mean we suck against righties. I'm not concerned about the right handed dominance that much. I'd really rather give Hall a chance to rebound at a more natural position than give him up for Blalock, let alone us adding more to that.
  23. True. I'm not a Mench fan, but I'm sure we could do worse in LF than Mench/Gross. I'd rather have that than give up too much for a LFer in a trade
  24. Good question, I don't know of any way to go about forming a callus, other than throwing. When it has happened to me it was at times where there was a good amount of time in between pitching. When I'm throwing daily there is a callus that develops that prevents the blistering. Not sure how that relates to Ben, just my two cents that a.) time off from throwing due to injuries can result in no callus, and odds of a blister go up and b.) throwing with a blister sucks and is next to impossible. Oh yeah...also, gripping the ball too hard can result in blistering, but I'm not sure if that is Ben's problem because that also reduces velocity.
  25. I pitch and I have experienced a blister on the throwing hand more than once. It's not an issue of toughness, you just can't do it. It's not like playing through a sore back or sore leg. Your fingertips are obviously so important dicatating the spin on the ball so if you can't grip it properly, you can't be effective even if you can tolerate the pain.
