  1. Why not? I do it all the time, in fact I just scaled back earlier this month. I get most people aren't comfortable with that. But after a big correction, you better believe I'll be buying, and when we have a long run up, I'm moving a chunk out of the market.
  2. I'm optimistic these new robot concession stands will get my order right.
  3. I have a Cubs snapback hat from when I was a kid. It never leaves my closet, but I can't manage to part with it due to memories of coming home from school and watching them many years ago. And I'm giving myself a pass, because the Brewers were in the AL then.
  4. Unless I'm reading it wrong, I think we already accomplished that in the very first response to the OP's post.
  5. Is it unprecedented? I'm not challenging that, just honestly don't know. Hopefully a couple teams are real interested and just want to see a few quality starts out of him. I do think we're at the point of the rebuild where positions start to come into play. Specifically, it just wouldn't make sense right now to get another OF. Pitching would be preferred, and I'm sure Stearns is looking at it that way.
  6. Is he though? All I read and hear is how he's the main reason they've turned the season around.
  7. Not dismissing that at all. That's why I said he better learn 1B or be traded. I have no idea if he could ever become even an avg 1B. Santana would have been a godsend for much of Brewers past out fields. A young, controllable guy with a pretty high floor, and room in his ceiling. He just happens to be here at a time when something has to give relatively soon. It's not that I don't like him, in fact it's why I hope he can play 1B.
  8. It's all good, we can all read. Everyone can see for themselves what has been said. This has run it's course, but for the record I like Santana. And it's not a matter if I want Broxton and Brinson over him, it's that the Brewers do. They want athletic, versatile, superior defensive players. Which is why, again, Santana has a future here if he can play 1B. In case there's any doubt, we had another corner OF who hit plenty, under team control for years, and was bad defensively. He was traded. If you can't come up with the name, ask Briggs ; )
  9. If he hits, he'll be in our outfield. It's actually that simple. Those were your exact words. I get your shtick has been to argue with people for sport, unfortunately your words are there for all to see.
  10. Right. All of that is a given. You said if Santana hits, he stays, it's that simple. But if Braun is still here and Broxton and Brinson are better, now what? See, not that simple.
  11. Comparing a 30 year old free agent that would cost millions versus a guy who is 23 and isn't a free agent until 2022 is not exactly the route that should be taken here. I'm highly doubt he'd be right out the door if he has an .820 ops. He will if he doesn't learn 1B. Or would you rather trade Broxton or Brinson?
  12. Simply not true. If he hits, he'll be in our outfield. It's actually that simple. Disagree. Already stuck with Braun for 4 years. Broxton could be the real deal. So Brinson is not going to be the 4th OF. It's actually that simple. Not to mention Ray, Phillips, Clark and others that could be knocking on the door. All those guys are better defensively and have 6 yrs of team control. Santana isn't going to get in the way, just watch.
  13. Correct. Always possible a good vet could be cut in camp for cap reasons, or acquire one via trade. Neither is very likely though. As far as mlb goes, they have guys. Just like most positions, nobody special.
  14. I'm not saddened, he wasn't very good. But like all players who don't make it, I do wish him the best of luck moving forward.
  15. It is definitely Guerra. Counsell officially announced it, it's out there everywhere on the inter-webs.
  16. If you're a player, would you rather start the season with confidence in your swing, or coming off a brutal ST where you struck out a ton? Does it mean they will continue to hit well in April? No. But I have to believe, in general, it's better to have that confidence coming into a season. And right, it doesn't mean anything to Braun or guys like that- he doesn't have a confidence problem.
  17. Thames can be traded, Santana can split time between 1B and corner OF, lots of options there. Bottom line, Santana can't be a full time OF for the Brewers long term.
  18. Actually, based on that chart alone, it tells us Perez is not a viable option to play CF. But I agree Santana needs to learn how to play 1B or be traded before 2018 season. Was really hoping we would see him there during ST this year, all I can hope is maybe he has put in some time there on the practice fields (but you would think that word would have got out.)
  19. The point was, as already stated, they asked him to make the change in season. Maddon's players learn positions in Spring Training, get trained and developed and are ready to go on Opening Day. Huge difference. If you think someone can go from being a college outfielder to eleven years later learning MLB on the fly, without a day of playing OF in between, you are severely underestimating the difficulty of playing MLB OF. I'm sorry but I don't agree- at all. Weeks was getting a healthy paycheck to play for the Brewers. If his manager wants him in the OF, that's what you do. It's not a democracy. Maybe he would have really struggled out there, maybe not. That's not the point. Just as when the manager asks you to bunt, you don't swing away.
  20. Right, but all the other teams are hitting against those types of pitchers too. So shouldn't they all be scoring 10 runs a game too? Oh, and if none of that matters then caught stealing isn't a problem either. Can't have it both ways. Swinging the bat well matters. It matters in intra-squad games, fall league, winter league, and yes spring training. Does it predict they will hit that we'll in April? No. But it is encouraging. If they didn't hit a lick against that list of pitchers we would be reading about that too. And this is all without Braun, and missing Villar and Perez for a while. Just let us hold on to something.
  21. Sounds pretty cool actually, you don't want to save them?
  22. Thanks for taking the time to do this. Honestly, even for realistic ceilings some of these seem really high. I think we still have ops and hr numbers in our heads from a few years ago. Only 9 players in the NL were over .900 ops last year.
  23. I don't think it's meaningless. Proof is if they were last in all these categories, this thread would have been created long ago with pages of posts of concern. Yes, it's ST, so you take that into account. But it is encouraging and I've always felt the ceiling for run production this year is pretty high.
  24. Two of them did for sure - Ahmed Hill and Satchel Pierce. Hill played against Wisconsin, looks like he averaged about 11 points a game this year. Pierce barely played his first two seasons and appears to have transferred to Penn State. Thanks! Yea, I think the Hill kid is the one I had in mind.
  25. That reminds me, didn't a couple of Marquette recruits follow Buzz to VA Tech? I remember at least one kid (from GA) was a pretty high recruit. I was so focused on the game the other day, I forgot all abut this. Does anyone know if any former MU recruits got playing time for VA Tech vs UW?
