  1. Three pitchers with last name of Brown. That won't be too confusing. Lara will be interesting, I'm not expecting much from him so if he hits this year that would really be encouraging.
  2. Espino would be the 5th starter, Barbosa is a relief pitcher.
  3. They can at least bring up an extra bat until that spot in the rotation comes up then replace him with Hader to start, not Milone. Wren fits that role perfectly. Not only is he LH, he's a contact guy on a team starved for them. They probably won't bring Hader up for one start, as I think that would make him a Super 2 player. If Guerra was lost for a long period then they might, but I'd guess they'll just suffer through a Milone start and then put either Garza or Guerra into the rotation if one of them is ready. Your scenario to get another bat on the bench could work if they decide to let Jungmann get the start. There's no harm in calling him up for one start, and they wouldn't need to add him until after Friday's game. That might not be a bad option. No need to call Jungmann up, he's already in the bullpen. Or did you mean Wren? He's not on the 40 man, so I really doubt they would do that. Especially since there will be a need more than ever to have a 13 man pitching staff in the short term.
  4. It's a fine line, he has to do what the owner wants, and I doubt Mark A wants a 58 win team. So it makes sense, for example, to get a FA like Thames on the cheap. But I agree, when the choice for a 40 man spot is between a young pitcher with nasty stuff and a AAAA journeyman relief pitcher, you protect the young pitcher. No GM is perfect, but these decisions are going to be so important moving forward.
  5. I know you don't want to believe this, you are dug into your opinion and it won't change. But do you understand this is the Brewers' goal? To bring in a boat-load of young talent, continue to draft well, etc. so they can put themselves in a position where they CAN compete most every year? Yea, they could have kept Lucroy and Davis, and they would have won the WS this year with that rotation?
  6. Then it's his fault for taking that too literally. He's a grown man that understands the concept of options, or given his AAAA talent he should. He has options, others don't. I'm not bothered by anything he said, I just think he's making himself look like a fool. He was /is upset and popped off, made a "public person semi-apology" as I call it and made it worse. Nothing Tyler Cravy can say will upset me as a fan, he's ...you know...Tyler Cravy. But he does look really ignorant when he implies 9-5 workers don't get bent over all the time, lied to, treated with no respect, etc. I mean didn't he ever see the movie 9 to 5?
  7. Also, the big main beer stands have some of those same beers on tap, plus others that are not avail at the craft stand. Weird. Other thing is, there are 4 choices, just repeated throughout the stadium. I dont know, improved in some ways bit overall not impressed especially with how much money they spent.
  8. Well, first impression of concession stands? Disaster. And I have no idea how that cost millions of dollars.
  9. The article said they hope he's ready by the end of April, so this allows him to be insurance against another pitcher either getting hurt or completely stinking up the joint for a month. Shortly after that, they will be beyond the cutoff and can bring up Hader to replace anyone who is injured or under-performing. This is exactly what I think they're doing. And it's fine with me, they're paying Garza a lot of money, so IF needed I see no problem putting a bunch of innings on Garza's arm if they need another SP in the short term.
  10. I did predict a convenient injury at the end of camp to keep all 6 guys around.
  11. 1B? You have Thames and Aguilar already, which many would argue is one too many 1B on the 25. Shaw can play 1B, so could Perez. No idea if any of the catchers could play 1B in a pinch. Then there's Santana and Braun, one of which I hope learns the position. After that you have Cooper, maybe Coulter or Nottingham. In other words, almost anybody.
  12. totally agree. Some places you can't just get a normal beer anymore and everything is slowed down because people need to have a discussion about what these beers are, then sample before buying. Overall I really hate the smugness associated with it, even as simply as describing them as 'good' beers while turning the nose up at basic lite beer. I mean, the stuff is intentionally made to be bitter and even many advocates admit they can't drink more than a couple. Why are they so much better, because they charge way more and tell you it's better? To each their own, I don't care, do your thing and I'll do mine. But don't act all smug about it as if I'm a heathen for liking normal beer and then try to continually push this stuff on me and say I'll like it if I try it. No, I won't. A few times after being friendly for a while of someone pushing something and telling some dumb story about how it's so good they can only sell 6 at a time because it sells out so quickly because it's so good type stories blah blah. Eventually I just say, yea I get that problem. High Life is so good and was in so much demand they actually decided they should mass produce millions and millions per year. I'm definitely a beer snob, but I'm not a d**k about it. It's just that it's become a hobby of mine. I brew beer at home, and for over 20 years now I have tried so many different styles of beer from Belgium, Germany, etc. and now American breweries are putting out some outstanding beers. The innovation from some of the American breweries are really interesting, blending styles, brewing techniques, aging, etc. With that said, I get it's not everyone's cup of tea. Heck, when it comes to wine I don't even like it, I wouldn't care if it was from a box or a $1,000 bottle. Ditto for scotch. Yet there are a lot of people who really appreciate it, but it's lost on me. I'll also say this. When it comes to IPAs, I do think there's a segment that orders it because they think they're supposed to like it. I see the look on someone's face when they take a drink, and I'm thinking dude...that looks painful. So yea, I'll avoid Budmillercoorslight whenever I possibly can. Throw them in a cooler with ice, and I can drink them ice cold. Actually refreshing. But a "sort of cold" flat-ish pitcher on the table...I will go running....even for a Blue Moon.
  13. I'm going to pretend I didn't hear that. http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/seuss/images/b/b7/Cat_page_logo.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20120527060656
  14. Just checked the Cardinals-like rulebook on hat wearing. Yes, you're fine there. But you may NOT buy a Miller Lite wearing a Bud hat. Also, no Chorizo because his hat was too cliché
  15. There's never a good time to give up picks. And yea, the word is CB is deep. But that doesn't mean a stud will be there at the end of the 1st. Or, they could even go bolder and trade Hundley and a 3rd next year for a mid first rounder this year. Then they would have two first round picks this season. Get a stud CB, and then a LB, pass rusher, O lineman, whatever with the other 1st round pick.
  16. Thanks, forgot that's how it worked. As for Tavarez, if they wanted another OF, why wouldn't they just keep Reed or add Wren to the 40 man? I mean, hey, I'm open to taking a look at anyone, but they're past the stage of needing to take flyers on outfielders.
  17. Could/should they move up in the 1st to get a stud CB? TT has shown he's willing to move up, so it's not unheard of. Just seems like they still have a major hole, and the only way they can fill it is by getting a true stud CB in the draft. Not a guy who has good hips and potential. Not a safety they want to convert to CB. No, a guy who can step in right away and instantly be better than Randall, Rollins Gunter, and House.
  18. I'm going as well. Very curious to see these multi-million dollar concession stands. Now if I can only figure out which hat I'm supposed to wear...
  19. Yea, I don't think age or being a hipster has anything to do with liking good beer. (And I always thought hipsters liked PBR and High Life?) I'm not an IPA fan, but I do like a lot of other styles. In fact, there's some good choices on that beer menu, but I won't be paying $12-$14 for one. Although they really should have more hefeweiss and other summer type beers. I guess that's what tailgating is for, those prices are ridiculous.
  20. If he was a rule 5 pick, how could the Brewers get him? He doesn't go through waivers does he?
  21. Gutty, scrappy win against best ine East, on the road, playoff type atmosphere. Wow. I am floored Brogdon has moved past steady role player. He is now a major part of the present and future.
  22. Agree. He wasn't good before, try to see if you catch lightning in a bottle, fine. But I've never seen a lefty throw everything so straight in my life. Barnes has been shelled too, but at least he has some tools working for him. There must be some cast offs these next couple days that are better than Milone.
  23. Well, Peralta is not Lucroy. Gallo would actually be a pretty fair trade for Peralta. Not that I want that to happen, or think it will. But his name at least makes sense in the context of a Peralta trade, where it never made any sense in a Lucroy trade. All of this Peralta talk with the Rangers is a smoke screen anyhow, Braun is the one who will be traded. Gallo and....
