  1. Weeks and Kotsay are represented by the same agent. Maybe he is agreeing to an extension for Weeks if the Brewers sign Kotsay.
  2. Amazing. HAHAHAHA!!!
  3. So does this mean the Arctic Tailgate is not happening?
  4. I saw it. Thought it was alright. I'll probably keep watching just because I might be moving to Portland haha
  5. I know how you feel. I am the same way. I love reading but I get so distracted these days. I swear its because of how much time I spend on the internet. One of the things that I did was just carve out time every night or morning. Even if it was a half hour here and there I did it every day and have gotten much better at it. Its so silly that I have to say I am getting better at reading. As a kid I would read a book every week it felt like. Not sure what happened, but I really do enjoy getting back into the habit. And Into Thin Air was awesome. Love Krakauer's stuff.
  6. I did quite a bit. I've read also read From Beirut to Jerusalem, so I like his style. Its a book about environmental issues that does a great job of explaining not only what the issues are, but why you should care. Finally he breaks down additional steps of action. This IMO is what differentiates good books on environmental issues from the junk. Instead of simply complaining or pointing out flaws there are things to be done and ways to overcome these "issues." Additionally it is done so without being overly political or preachy.
  7. I've been unsure as to whether or not I should see this. Definitely going to now. In love with Natalie Portman. I tell the old lady she is my movie star wife.
  8. Just thought I would bump this thread. Starting at the end of summer I have been trying to turn the TV and computer off and get back to reading books. Just curious what everyone has going on out in Brewerfan land. Recently I have read The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Always a big fan of the movies, but never had read the books. Also read Thomas Friedman's Hot Flat and Crowded. Currently reading The Hobbit and after that will start on What We Leave Behind or On Food and Cooking: The Science and Lore of the Kitchen.
  9. Yea totally. I didn't want to just toss them, but I'm not very sentimental about this sort of thing. Thought others might like them.
  10. I was a season ticket holder in '07 and purchased playoff tickets. Although we didn't end up making the playoffs it looks like I saved all of the tickets they sent. I found them during a cleaning of the closet session and thought I would offer them up to Brewerfan if anyone out there wants them for collectors purposes before tossing them. Not sure if anyone has any interest in themJust PM me and I can send them anywhere.
  11. I'll second the Menomena recommendation. Awesome band. Indie rock, but with some nuances that aren't over done. Additionally Chiddy Bang: the preview. If you are an indie kid that likes hip-hop you should check them out. Lots of samples but not obnoxious. Track to download: Opposite of Adults Free Energy: Stuck on Nothing. I saw these guys open up for Titus Andronicus. Super fun, bouncy pop rock. I have heard comparisons to AC/DC, big guitar riffs etc, but I just think they are fun bouncy rock. Track to download: Young Hearts Gaslight Anthem: American Slang. Not as good as The '59 Sound, but still in constant rotation on the iphone. Everyone compares them to Bruce Springsteen if Bruce was punk rock. A great comparison in my opinion. Heartfelt and anthemetic. Gaslight makes you want to crank the stereo to 11, roll the windows down and take a road trip. Track to download: We Did It When We Were Young Jimmy Eat World: Invented. I am biased because Jimmy has been my favorite band for well over a decade, but another solid effort. Guitar and hook heavy, but always unique. In my opinion it is their best release since Clarity. Its not another Clarity mind you, but it is more Futures than Static Prevails. But what do I know, I have Jimmy tattoo. Track to download: You have to answer a question to get the right track. Is Clarity your favorite album of all time -----> Yes: then download Mixtape. Huh? -----> then download Coffee and Cigarettes Stars: Five Ghosts. Absolutely love everything this band puts out. Dreamy, synth pop. Putting on Stars always transports me to a better place and drowns out everything out there. Track to download: Changes

  14. This is a pretty funny interview. Definitely quirky. Reminds me a lot of the Ben Sheets interviews.
  15. Awesome. A bullpen with Axford, Braddock, Jeffress, Hawkins, and Loe as the main guys is pretty solid. There isn't a ton of experience there either. This new rotation should instantly improve our bullpen anyways. Instead of having to pitch 25-30 innings for every 7 games; these better starters should be able to reduce that to around 20 or so. This is a point that can't be overstated. Greinke, Yo and Marcum all should go close or over 200 innings. Additionally it makes the defense have to do less. Defense can make pitching better, but pitching can also make defense have to do less.
  16. Has anyone played AC Brotherhood? I loved AC 2 and have heard great things about this one. I would have already bought it, but I think the ole ball and chain is getting it for me for christmas.
  17. Last year was the first year Pavano has pitched 200 innings since 2004 and Blanton hasn't pitched 200+ since 2007. Granted he came close in 2008 and 2009, but last year he only pitched 175. I don't think we can say with any certainty that either will pitch 200+ for sure next season.
  18. Very interesting reading some of the comments from that article by what appear to be Blue Jays fans. Comments in addition to those about his pitching. Talks are about how good of a fielder the guy is and apparently he was a SS in college so he can hit a bit.
  19. C'mon. We've been over this. Braun had 3 years of college. Lawrie is now 2 years out of high school and already in AA. It amazes me how often people just blindly compare minor league stats without taking into consideration the ages of players at each level. Fair enough, but it amazes me when people allow their personal biases to turn into "concrete" facts. You like Lawrie, a lot, we get that, but show me something that shows we just gave up the next Ryan Braun. I haven't seen anything out there that suggests this. I haven't ever seen a tool that allows to compensate age when comparing players and what they have done at certain levels or I would have used it. He has played good, but could just as easily fall off the face of the earth.
  20. Agreed, but he could also fall on his face and go the way numerous other prospects do. I just think saying that we gave away a guy who is the next Ryan Braun is pretty pre-mature.
  21. Wow. Really surprised by some of the comments here. Lawrie has impressed for sure, but comparing him to Braun? Braun's averages in the minors: .313/.375/.948Lawries: .280/.343/.788 Slugging specifically was a difference of .572 to .445 I think Lawrie projects well, but I cant see anything that tips to a Ryan Braun type projection. On top of that we all know the reason the Brewers were not competing for a playoff spot was because their pitching was garbage. DM goes out and gets the ace of the Jays staff who has put up very solid (Yo-like) numbers in baseball's toughest division for a single prospect and he gets busted up? Marcum is a very good pitcher and on top of that grows a great beard. I can't see anything I don't like.
  22. I didn't want to go overboard... haha
  23. Oh good lord I love me some Gille's. Definitely hitting them up when I am home for Christmas. My friend came in to town last night. He had quite the haul for us.
